Hello, hello! I can see from the post counts that when we talk about books you galls’ like to chat so for now I think Sundays should be BOOK CLUB DAY! What have you just read, what are you reading and what’s on your shelf waiting for you? It seems we share a similar taste in books so let’s share…
As you know I just read Rock Me by Cherrie Lynn and I loved it so naturally I went and bought the first one (didn’t know she had a series out but it doesn’t matter in which order you read them) – Unleashed. I like it so far but not as much as I liked Rock Me (maybe because it has a lemon scene in so like one I’ve done, I feel a little deflated about that. Here I thought I was being original… LOL). On my shelf, waiting for me is One Night With the Pleasure Pro by Michael Dakota. I must say that I’m curious to read this one as the author is male. Not so sure about that but we shall see…

Leave me breathless by Cherries Lynn! It’s the follow up to Rock Me, but follows Ghost and Macy. I’m not sure if it’s because I read it last, but I almost like it moretthan Rock Me.

So last weekend I totally got consumed by This Man, Beneath This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas, this is very 50 shades/crossfire trilogy and you will love these books. This weekend it’s been Down to You and Up to You by M Leighton, very sexy love story 🙂

I like the books by Sophie Kinsella, which are “Can you keep a secret?”, “Undomestic Goddess”, “Remember me?”, “Twenties Girl” and “I’ve got your number”. These books are hilariously funny (Reading in public is a risk… You might get strange looks.), the plots are good and the love storys are from light hearted to heart breaking, but always with a happy end. Erotica and sex are mostly only hinted at, but where it occurs, it’s very beautiful.
There are more books by Kinsella, like the Shopaholic series, but I don’t like those. She also published some books under her real name Madeleine Wickham. These books are a different genre and I haven’t given them a try yet.
I don’t know if there are any fantasy lovers around, but if, they might want to try “The Peculiar” by Stefan Bachmann, an Swiss-American writer of 19 years and who was only 16 at the time of writing the book. I haven’t read it yet, it’s on my bookshelf and I’m looking very forward to it. The critics are throughout positive.

I LOVE Sophie Kinsella, before FSOG she was one of my top 3 authors! I’ve read all her books, I can see how the Shopaholic series can irritate people though it is sooo funny, she just gets into sooo much trouble but I love it! I’ve tried getting into fantasy, my hubby is a big fan along with sci-fi but I just don’t get the same rush. You’ll appreciate this, my hubby proof reads my stories for me on Friday night and every Friday I ask him he goes, “Are there any aliens or zombies yet?” He recons I should write Christian as an advanced being and Chris the mutation love child between the higher species and human Ana that’s here to save the world…

Just for my curiousity – which book did you like the most? And which male character? I think I liked “Remember me?” the most.
I liked Jack (Can you keep a secret?) and Ed (Twenties Girl), and I will never forget the scene where Lara and Ed first met (in his meeting room. ;-)), but they didn’t get under my skin.
I was very fond of Sam (I’ve got your number), the forest scene was so sweet, and Jon (Remember me?). The sunflower scene is one of the most beautiful love scenes that come to my mind.
And last but not least I was completely and utterly smitten with Nat, the gardener (Undomestic Goddess).

I’m halfway through The Angel by Tiffany Reisz, the 2nd volume of the Original Sinners trilogy. It’s even better than The Siren. Funny and sexy and written in clear lucid prose. An absolute delight.

I kwow, I’ve been looking for the release date of the follow up and she really left us hanging there! Guess it’s in line with the there of the book, sadistic madam and all! LOL! I couldn’t even pre order it on Kindle.

I loved Original Sinners, there are many books in the series, Next one for you in The Prince but she has a whole bunch of filler short stories in the series as well! Good stuff and yes, she is funny! Soren is a bit scary though… 😉

There are some great short stories on her website. I find Soren very interesting and compelling but definitely scary. Quite honestly I don’t think that a good scene should end with a trip to the emergency room. Having said that, the books are a great read.

I’m all in for the book club idea. I’ve really been enjoying talking to others and reading so many great books that I probably would never have found otherwise. Per Monique’s review on Rock Me, I got it and read it in a day. Can’t wait to read more titles by that author. Also want to read more by Colleen Hoover after reading Hopeless. I haven’t read thus much in the last 5 years as I have since Fifty. Loving it.

I just finished Gabriel’s Inferno and Gabriel’s Rapture, again. I loved them! But, like 50 Shades, people either loved them or hated them. Has anyone on this site read them? I’m curious to know if you liked them? It helped that I had David Gandy in mind as the professor as I was reading…lol. Getting ready to read Beautiful Disaster and On Dublin Street as they have been highly recommended. Rock Me is on my list to buy.

I liked then though I couldn’t get a handle on Emmerson, too contradicting with the prissy clothes hiding a supposed sex god. I hear she’s working in a third book in the Gabriel series. Both the two on your shelf are awesome reads, enjoy!

It’s interesting that Renard is a male author. Men don’t usually write such breathless romance. I agree with you about Emmerson not being very convincing and all that obsession with the heroines spotless purity seemed a bit pervy to me. I stopped with the first book.

I just completed The Proposition and The Proposal by Katie Ashley and they were great. If you’re a fifty shades fanatic like me, you will like them. I’ve also completed reading On Dublin Street by Samantha Young. Both great books that I would recommend reading. I have downloaded Rock Me and plan on reading it soon!

I read ‘Wallbanger’ by Alice Clayton recently after reading a review on a blog. It was laugh out load hilarious and lot’s of good sex, love, good friends, and in beautiful San Francisco. After enjoying that one, I read Alice Clayton’s ‘The Unidentified Redhead’ and ‘Redhead Revealed’. Again, so funny, lot’s of sex,love, etc. Both were such great reads so will add Ms. Clayton to my ‘watch’ list. I just read ‘Wallbanger’ for the 2nd time last night and enjoyed it all over again.
Another one I read 3 times is ‘Safe with Me’ by Shaina Richmond. Shaina has characters that are more true life vs. perfect characters found in some books. Even though the characters are 21-25 and much younger than me, with the partying, sex, etc that you find in most colleges, I could feel their joy, pain, etc. Truly an engaging story and you will fall in love with Tyler and Susie.
Another one is ‘Education of Sebastian’ by Jane Harvey-Berrick, http://fifty-shades-of-grey.me/home-page/ who writes stories about FSOG, some of younger Christian, several are from Taylor’s POV which are hilarious, etc. Taylor’s thoughts of Christians actions, his love of Gail, among other things are just a fun read. ‘The Education of Sebastian’ is a wonderful story with love, sex, and various issues to deal with (Sebastian is 17, 4 months shy of his 18th birthday but has just graduated high school & Caroline is 30). Both have dealt with lack of love and caring with parents, etc. The sequel ‘The Education of Caroline’ will be coming out next month and is a wonderful story — ten years after the end of the first book, with heartbreak, lots of sex, war, etc.

This is a great idea Monique and Tracey. A lot of my girl friends don’t read much so I struggle for someone to compare notes with. Unlike Chantal above I’m actually reading much less since Fifty Shades as I simply can’t leave it and sites like yours alone. Currently though I am reading Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. It’s a beautifully written story, at times very funny and at others totally heartbreaking. It’s taking me a while to get through so it will probably take me a few more weeks to finish it.
I have a couple of non-fiction books also part read too and I keep promising myself I’ll finish them before I go on to another novel. They are Moonshot (the story of the Apollo moon landings) and Murray Walker’s autobiography

I know what you mean, hard to tear yourself away from something you love like FSOG. Do you really think you read less or do you read the same amount, just not books but blogs instead? Captain Corelli’s Mandolin eh? Bringing a bit of culture into our group! 😉 Good, keep it up! LOL! As for non fiction, I have a way too big a dose of real life in my real life so where I can I steer well away from those though a good Biography can be life changing!

I had really got out of the habit of reading before 50 shades, and am making up for lost time. TV hasn’t been turned on for months. Just completed the Original Sinners books – holding my breath for the next book to come out. I do hate books closing on a cliffhanger, but I guess it’s effective. Also found each character in Cherise Sinclair’s Shadowlands series compelling. Each book improved on the previous. Didn’t want to bring any of the Doms home with me (unlike our beloved Christian), and learned a few things I could have been happy not knowing, but still really cared about every character she featured. Next up is the Jane Harvey-Berrick book, curious to see if I’ll enjoy as much as I do her fan fiction.
