I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend spent mostly behind a favourite book…
I just love this idea for a bookmark… so cute I almost want to reach for an actual book again! 😉
This week I read:
Promises After Dark by Sadie Matthews and Down To You by M Leighton
I was pleasantly surprised by the start of Promises after Dark, book 3 in this series. For a moment I thought maybe she built on the improvements of the second book but I’m sorry to say that the ending let the story down. It was just all too simple, too easy. Being a drama addict I was left wanting more.
In sharp contrast is Down To You. I’m just about done and I’m really enjoying it. I LOVE the surprise twist! I was going to read something else after but I’ve already purchased book 2 in the series which -hopefully – I’ll be devouring with equal gusto!
On my shelf I have:
Up To Me by M Leighton and The Proposition by Katie Ashley
Naturally after reading book 1 I had to get the sequel so I’ll be starting with Up To Me….

I assume it’s Mother’s Day in Ireland so happy Mother’s day to you too! We only have ours in May. I hope you got spoilt in all manner of inventive ways! You don’t ever have to come out of your kinky funk, we’re all still wallowing in ours and I’ll let you in on a little secret, there is reading life after FSOG! 😉 It took me ages to get there but I must say, now that I’m there, I wouldn’t want it any other way! How do you survive without reading or do you follow enough FSOG FF to keep you busy?

It is indeed I’ve had brekkie in bed opened pressies now back in bed reading Meander again this will be 9 times lol! Hubby is doing the ironing!
Heading out for a meal later on got a book from my hubby, thiink hes trying to tell me something – of my usual genre I had never read romance until FSOG so I am going to get stuck into this new book to pop my cherry so to speak 🙂 x

Monique, thank you for sharing with us. I love your insight into the book world. I read This Man and am in the middle of the 2nd book in the series. Thank you for this recommendation – I totally agree with you that this is a wonderful series that is very entertaining and great for anyone who loved FSOG. You are the best for recommending this. I first read FSOG, then the crossfire series – these series are my ultimate favorites. Next, I read Gabriel’s inferno series, Up in the Air series, Beautiful Disaster, Captive in the Dark (series), and now This Man series. If FSOG and Bared to you are my Nirvana, what series would you recommend next? Again, love your writing and your book club!!!!!

I haven’t read them yet, but I’m dying to get my hands on the Blackstone Affair books by Raine Miller (Naked, All In, 3rd book not out yet). I heard they’re extremely good.

I really enjoyed them. Not quite the same level as our beloved FSOG but a great read nonetheless. I liked the alternating points of view. Does anyone know if FSOG is responsible for that little trend that I suddenly see so often lately?

Oh Yippee! So glad you enjoyed it! (still enjoying it!) I think I’m going to have to go to Up in the Air next. I also don’t know the Captive in the Dark series… Another one for the shelf… Yay! You’re so welcome re the share, I’ve also gotten some wonderful suggestions from you guys! Have you read the Blackstone Affair series, Naked and All In by Raine Miller? Also this current series that I’m on Down to You and Up to Me by M Leighton is also right up our alley. I looove Cherrie Lynn’s books also, they’re a series but don’t follow onto each other. I most enjoyed Rock me and Leave Me Breathless. Hope that gives you some ideas! Let me know. xx

I’ve just gone onto Goodreads to check out Captive in the Dark, it seems like quite a hectic theme, was it upsetting to read? I must admit that stuff like that scares me a little…

I with you on Captive in the dark. As much as its suppose to be a great read.. Its a bit scary knowing in real life it happened. So its one series i will skip. I read the sample and the review and decided not to pursue it.
But when you finish with them do let me know what you think of it 🙂

This week, I read Backstage Pass by Olivia Cunning. I loved the middle of the book, but the beginning and towards the end…not so much. Without giving away too much, menage/sharing are not my thing and I won’t continue reading the series. The Edge of Never by J. A. Redmerski was good. Then I read Come Away with Me by Kristen Proby and thought it was great! Next up: Fight With Me by Kristen Proby which looks even better 🙂

I read one book by Olivia and it was good but I won’t be running to her for my next purchase, the plot resolution was a little too simple for me and of course it had the obligatory share which I know you don’t enjoy. The Edge of Never was lovely but I enjoyed Hopeless even more. Keep us up to date with Proby books, I’m curious. Thank you though, I’ve put it on my to read shelf with Goodreads.. 😉

Just finished “this man” and “beneath this man” based on your Sunday read list. I had read the sample pages some time back, but had decided they were a no. I can’t say I loved the books, but still enjoyed the story and characters. A good proofreader and editor could lift them to the love level, but parts of the story were just irritating. (And parts were quite nice….hmm, guess which parts?) Just started “the Submissive” by Tara Sue Me, it’s the first of a hugely successful fanfic trilogy, and they are hoping that the 50 shades fans will help it follow the same path to success. Suspect it will do very well, promising start. But hate starting a trilogy and having to wait for the next books in the series. I’m really all about instant gratification!

I agree with you Sharon, there were too many repetitive phrases but I adore anything with a insanely, outrageously strong male lead and for me that was the clincher in that series. I’ve read the Submissive and I’m eager to hear what you think but I hate the whole humiliation thing from the “real” BDSM genre. I must admit that it didn’t have too much of that in it but still, it’s not for me. I’m not sure that I will be looking at book 2. I so agree with you about waiting for another book in a series, especially one that you love. GAH! Tenterhooks! It helps if I have many series going at the same time so I can have fairly frequent second and third books to look forward to.

Reread Bared to You and Reflected in You this week. Can’t get enough of Eva and Gideon. I also finished the final story in Sylvia Day’s Georgian series called Don’t Temp Me. I really enjoy her historical romance books, I find them fun little reads. I’m in the middle of 80 Days Amber by Vina Jackson. It is related to The 80 Days Yellow, Red, and Blue trilogy, but it stands alone. It is the story of Luba, a Russian dancer, and her lover Chey, a mysterious amber trader. Luba travels the world dancing nude for others. Some places are kind of seedy, others high class with invites only. While Luba does meet up with Summer and Dominic from 80 Days Yellow, 80 Days Amber has its own story line. I’m halfway through and there hasn’t been any of the BDSM as in the trilogy. Well…maybe a little with her own man 😉 but none of the degrading humiliating stuff from yellow, red, and blue. Oh…and the book wasn’t available here in the U.S. Had to order it from the U.K.

I know re Gideon and Eva – boy I get in their heads when I read those books… 😉 Yes, her Georgian series was fun. Good fillers while we’re waiting – NOT PATIENTLY ANY MORE – for book 3 of Crossfire! Yeah, I don’t get the humiliation thing… pain sure but humiliation? Nah! 😉

Wow. Ok so I read 5 books this week. First was One wicked night by Kelly Jamieson. Then I read Rule of three also by Kelly Jamieson. Both great story lines and Extremely hot/Ménage. I then read the Up in the Air trilogy. It was actually pretty good and one of those true If you liked Fifty Shades type series. I have to be honest and say I feel as though the author basically created the book by combining FSOG and BTY but still a great read. This week on my bookshelf I have Sara’s Surrender, Beautifully Damaged, Rocked Under and Release me. I really want to read the Blackstone Affair series but the final book isn’t out and waiting for these dang books makes me nuts. Like right now I’m waiting on Walking Disaster and of course Entwined in You to come out!!!

This week i was lost on book world. I finished Wait for You (just ok), Fighting for Flight (love it), the two books from Neighbour from Hell series (Playing for keeps and Perfections) ..(great laugh!)
On to Stalk now… (so far.. Err.. Just ok)

Oh! You’re the second person this week to recommend the NFH series, I hear it’s very funny and more than just a little bit quirky. Also very realistic. what’s your take? Who is the author? I’m quite interested. I’ve put Fight for Flight on my list… Another one to look forward too!

Yeah they’re funny. Very light.. So its a good break and good laugh if you needed one from book hangover. Lol. The NFL series is by R L Matthewson. But all of the, stand alone and HEA. No cliffhangers. Realistic as in real woman characters. Not the supermodel with perfect hair, perfect look kinda main lead. LOL.. But unrealistic food issues. LOL.
I quite like Fight for Flight. 🙂 lots of people love Wait for You, but its not sticking on me too well. Heheheh..
Have u put meander on the list too? Hheheh cant wait for tomorrow ^__~

Yeah, I think that’s exactly what I need. I’m feeling very tired at the moment, just flat you know? I’ve not heard of Wait for You, will check it our but you say no? Uhm, no I haven’t put Meander on this list though I think I know the story you’re referring to… LOL! 😉

I have hada busy reading week. I read Reckless by SC Stephens and loved it and the entire trilogy. I wish she would write another one because I can’t get enough of Kellan Kyle. I also read Beautiful Bastard and didn’t really care for it. I didn’t think think there was much of a plot and all they would do is fight and then have sex. I also read The Prince by Tiffany Reisz and really enjoyed it. Some parts are a little too intense do I skimmed over those. There is a major cliff hanger at the end so now I am anxiously awaiting the next one, but it isn’t out until the end of July. I also read Beautiful Disaster which I enjoyed and am looking for her follow up walking disaster which I believe is from the male characters POV. The last one I read was Tangled up In You by Rachel Gibson. This was okay. The plot was so so and I felt like there were a lot of gaps in the storyline that could have made it more interesting.
My really exciting news is that I finally ordered a Kindle and am anxiously awaiting it arrival. While I’m waiting I have decided not to buy anymore actual books. Because of his undecided to I back to where this all started and reread FSOG. I can’t wait!!!

I too need to purchase some type of ereader as some of these stories are only available as an ebook. Not sure what to go with. Can anyone give me some advice on that. Kindle? Nook? Ipad? Something else?

The advantage of a Kindle comparing to iPad is that it doesn’t reflect the light. E.g. the sun doesn’t blind you if it shines on your Kindle. It’s called “True Ink Technology”, and with it, a page on the Kindle looks like a page in a real book. I don’t know Nook, but I chose Kindle because of the huge choice of books on Amazon.

Personally I’m an Apple addict… so I can’t really compare because I only have Apple devices but anything that can buy you any book with one click has got to be a great thing… 😉

I loooove Tiffany Reisz’ books except for the sucky cliffy you refer too… GAH! She’s worse than me, at least you only have to wait a week for mine… LOL
Fantastic for Kindle. For a while I missed actual books but I recently delved into one again and I was like… no way… went back to my phone with my tail between my legs. Love the notes you can make, the highlighting, the back light if you want it, the size of the font, the privacy for what you’re reading… LOVE IT! Not to mention 1 click buy from Amazon, instant download, books are never out of stock… Best thing EVA! 😉
