Hello lovely ladies 🙂
As we’re slipping into cooler temps I have to wonder why we don’t get to hibernate. Imagine a whole winter snoozing, reading, and snacking. Sounds good, right? I hope our northern hemisphere counterparts are enjoying their sunny climes 😉 At least the weather makes for great reading times.
This week I had a good reading week but it’s left me musing about something else. Isn’t it funny how books and the writing styles in them vary so dramatically? I read an excellent book this week and another that I’m not so crazy about. In this instance, the one that I loved also happened to be well written, which is always a nice convergence, but on the other hand, the not so great read is not so well written, almost guaranteeing my dislike. However this trend is not something that I find holds water i alln other cases. Similarly I’ve read and very much ENJOYED poorly written books because the plot and story lines are as gripping as they are engaging, and by the same token, have found some grammatically well written books (even in the same genre) an absolute bore. You have to ask yourself what exactly is it that draws us to a book and holds us captive in it’s wordy spell….
This week I read:
The Vincent Boys by Abbi Glines (book 1 in the Vincent Boys series) was a lovely read; sweet and sexy but the couple is very young.
Holy Frigging Matrimony by Emma Chase is a novella that fits in between Tangled and Twisted and a stunning little filler in this great Tangled series. I love this writer and I found these books to be funny and refreshing.
Wait for You by J Lynn was a great read but a tad more intense than the books I’ve read from her before. She’s definitely still on my favorite’s list.
Currently I’m reading:
Devoured by Emily Snow, book 1 in the Devoured series. So far, I’m not in love but I’ll review properly next week when I’ve read through the whole thing.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend! Here is a little something from Big Bang’s super smooth Walowitz to put a smile on your face 😉
Happy reading, ladies.
Monique xx

Emma Chase’s books are based on Sookie Stackhouse and Eric Northman from SVM series by Charlaine Harris

Hoi Monique! You are so right about the fact that you can love bad and good written books . It all depends on the story for me. How many people have said: O, FSOG, sooooo badly written, it’s trash. Well this trash has changed my life in more than one way. I started reading romantic, erotic stories, my sexlife improved, ( a very nice thing! 😉 ) and I had some interesting talks with women about it and…… I found you!!!!! So, bring on the trash! Lol! At the moment I am not reading anything interesting, I have returned to my old love, thrillers! I am waiting for your next story of course! Veel liefs Janien
P.s. We are having a very nice, warm spring overhere, I hope the summer will be just as good! 😉

I find with the right chemistry, I can forgive a lot of errors and poor writing. But I do notice them, and they do distract from the story. Some stories are so wonderful, and truly deserve some caring editing and proof work. My own reading, I’m currently devouring “At Your Beck and Call” by Jane Harvey-Berrick. She just gets better and better! Will drop, everything to read “The Saint” by Tiffany Reisz as soon as it comes out. Envy your cooler weather. Hot, humid days for several months here!

Hello everyone, thank you for your recommendations. I bought What to Read after FSOG, pack 1 and pack 2, I have to be honest they were selling cheap on Amazon. It just so happened that I spent about 4 hours reading the first pack, breaks for making family meals etc. By the time I had finished pack 1 my mind was overloaded with BDSM, sex and more sex, and men/women with dark pasts. I decided to read one of my historical novels and I was getting along fine until I read the part where the Duke said he was going rutting with a tavern wench! Enough sex and violence for one day I will watch the boring television instead 🙂 I am still reading pack 2, although I joked about the first pack they have been good to read. Both packs are a selection of stories by writers, some end okay but others tempt you to buy further books about the characters in the story. Happy reading everyone, take care now.
