Between the coves book club

Hello lovely ladies 😉

My weekend was spent catching up with Meander and editing. It’s nice to be fully engrossed in it again. I’ve reposted a freshly edited chapter 3. Also, I’ve updated the Spanish translation with chapter 43. Thank you Kereny! 😉

As far as movie news is concerned, I got this from Susan; an article from Variety telling us something that comes as no surprise:

Fifty Shades Of Grey is the fastest selling  R-rated title in Fandango’s history.

And we have yet another TV ad….

Yummy!

This week I read:

Still, and again! LOL! I’m almost done with Darker. The amazing thing is that even though I’ve read it so many times, it’s gripped me just as much as the very first time. What is it about this story that has us so enthralled? Naturally my blog is a testament to my feelings surrounding these books but I’ve never actually reviewed them.  So, here goes: The Fifty Shades Of Grey series by EL James has to be the most gripping series I’ve ever come across. You can chase your own tail and argue about her writing style not being up to scratch, but it doesn’t change the fact that this story has millions of women across the world completely spellbound. I am certainly one of them. Christian and Ana’s journey is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. Teamed with the the depth of their love, and Mr Uber Control Freak’s kinky ways, this series makes up a spectacular ride that I’m thrilled to go on – again and again! I LOVE THESE BOOKS! 😉 It gets my Best Of The Best award every time.

Snap as they say. I started reading FSOG trilogy again and I have to say that enjoyed reading it as much as I did the first time. I have lost count of the times that I have read the books, I just love the characters Ana and Christian, the story never gets old for me. The original books I bought are looking a bit dog eared so when I got my Kindle I ordered the trilogy. Good reading to you Monique and all my fellow readers in the book club, take care all of you.

Hi ladies, I’m also reading FSOG nearly finished book 1 and yeah EL’s writing is not the best but there is no denying that her character is.
This trilogy introduced me to a genre of books I would never have looked at twice, introduced me to a whole new group of horny ladies 😉 which is great so while others may bash them EL is laughing all the way to the bank and us lucky ladies all the way to the bedroom 😁
Darker is my favourite of the trilogy so hope to start that tonight.
    Have a great week x

I have to tell you I love what you did with the story of Christian and Anna. It is so much more heartbreaking and heartwarming than the original. I would hate to guess how many times I have read it and now I am enjoying your edits. I cannot wait for the movie. Even though I am sure the critics will have nothing good to say about it we GREY LADIES will love it! Keep up the great work.

Thank you, Ann. What a lovely comment. Yes, I’m sure it’s going to be an insanely hot topic once the movie rolls around. The funny thing is that they critics will still have to pay for and watch the movie in order to critique… And who laughs all the way to the bank? Love it or hate it it’s gonna’ make a ton of money, and I think it deserves every red cent 😉

I guess EL has changed a lot of ladies (sex)lives! Like Katherine I never read anything like FSOG. And now I reading a totally different genre of books……and I love it! 😉 But I will always love Christian and Ana the most. No, EL is not a great writer, but boy, can she tell a story! That is what draws all these women. I have read the books for the ? time and I still LOVE them! Now I am starting to read Meander again! Monique, what about your own book? Are you writing something new now, or are you just working on Meander ? Which is great too of course! 😉 Liefs Janien

LOL….our library banned it back in 2012. They may have lifted it since then. I am halfway thru Darker….loving it. I come to a chapter and think…”I love this part…”, then I go to the next chapter and think, “oooo yeah, really love this scene”….and that is pretty much the story all the way thru. My number one favorite story for sure. And I read other people talking about Ana sounding immature. Well, of course she is. She is only 21….and I think she sounds and thinks the way many 21 yr old girls do. So looking forward to the movie, it will be great fun! My understanding is the premiere date is Feb 9th in LA (seems like it should have been Seattle!)…so I’m sure we will be hearing a lot about it. I’m going to try and avoid the reviews till I see the movie, so I can judge for myself! Everyone have a great week!
