At work…

I’m loving all the feedback. Thank you for sharing, girls! I’m at work (like a good little girl – Christian would be proud) so I will get to replying tonight 🙂

I have seen it twice now and I love it!!! I really believe Jamie and Dakota did a fantastic job! Loved the music, scenery and the Penthouse!!! I thought the RROP was beautiful. And Jamie’s bum, mans-cape and a glimpse of “Thor” was AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
I liked Marcia Gay Harden as Grace!!! But Luke Grimes as Elliot did not work for me…….! And Rita Ora was just a flash on the screen?!?!
Eloise as Kate is really good but I would have liked to see more of CG and Kate at “odds.” It would have been impossible to incorporate everything but I loved loved loved it!!!! Cannot wait for DARKER!!

I LOVED Grace. I thought she was awesome. She seemed just the right side of kind and stern. I always envisioned Taylor as older though I know he has a young daughter. Just goes to show how very different each of our internal FSOG worlds are!

Hey 🙋 personally I liked the movie. yeah it lack many scenes but you really can’t incorporate so many pages into a 2 hour film. Loved both actors,Dakota surprised me she was amazing and funny,Jamie was….soooo freakin hot.just loves him. Can’t wait for Darker. Haters are just that…if they don’t understand our love for FSOG then who gives a fuck. I foe one am a dedicated fan!!!😊

Hi fellow FSOG Fans -just thought i would share my views on the film which I saw yesterday afternoon. I felt a little disappointed with it , but I appreciate the complexities of trying to capture the whole book in 2 hours. I loved both Dakota and Jamie ( couldn’t get my head round his accent though?) The playroom scenes were tastefully done but would liked to have seen how christian cared for ana after the last scene. I’m not slating it but I think I will stick to my imagination !! Have fun laters baby!! X

When Christian turned into his “Dom” mode in the movie, he transformed into another personality. He took charge…if you looked at his face there was a change in him….I loved it! His face in the last scene, when he whipped her, looked like he might be having a bit of an orgasm. I think we all knew the movie would cut out parts of the book and that’s difficult for FSOG fans to handle. All in all I liked the movie! It was HOT!

I’ve read the book so many times, that i was little disappointed how they rushed the movie in all the scenes. It should be little slower and some very important parts of the book are not in the movie. I love Dakota as Anastasia but was expecting more from Jamie as Christian. I have seen his Fall and he is great in that series. I also felt that they have not done justice with the other characters of the movie.

End was shocking and like Anastasia we all want more. But, I am really glad they are making sequels. I just can’t wait for another year.

In between all of our excitement about our beloved books… I did read
” 3…2…1″ & Tight. Loved them both. 321 was very different but refreshing from our usual story of choice in a dark way. Tight had me right up until the end! Torres is a very addictive writer and she carries on so many tendrils of story at the same time I have always been left with…” Nope, I did not see that coming”… I love those.

Well ladies the church has now got involved, I’m not surprised and was actually shocked that we didn’t have protesters outside the cinema.
What I thought was unfair was when the representative from the church said that Jamie should be ashamed, even though I didn’t like him as CG don’t think there’s any need for that!

Another segment on the news was that after the opening night the cinema management have employed bouncers due to all the “ladies” getting pissed during the film………..wonder did they find my empty vodka bottle ……..not a joke 😁

That’s shocking, Katherine. I HATE when people jump on a bandwagon that they know nothing about. If only they knew that it’s a story of redemption, how a broken man is healed by love… That’s pretty Biblical, I’d say…. My Pastor in South Africa used to be a sex, drugs and rock-and-roller, he found God and frankly became one of the best pastors I’ve ever come across. By that same logic, he shouldn’t have been allowed to set foot in Church. It’s a shame people dismiss things out of hand.

You know people watch ~ murder shows, criminal shows, reality shows about transgender etc… I look at this topic as just a choice in life. I sent an email to ELJ in hopes that somehow the fans make her understand that we WANT to LOVE this trilogy. She does not need to sell us on it we already bought in years ago so much so that we fell in love with Monique & Meander… She does however need to ensure the movie reflects at least the essence of the book. No it will never convey the hidden nuances or the maybe even the depth of character but this is a story about Christian! I here the reviews are not good for Jamie I have not read any cause it makes me sad. Here is a man fully capable of acting in a trilogy about a man but yet the movie was all about the girl! Sorry I am still back to that.
Oh hey, I thought Elliot was totally on spot cause he was everything Christian was not ~ playful, fun, irresponsible… No?? Hugs

I liked the movie, the scenery, the power, the close enough to the book story, BUT my biggest disappointment like Mo said was the ending. There should have been more drama with that ending, christian saying no don’t go, and ana clearly conflicted. I took my husband, who came under sufferance and he thought the movie towards the end was boring. He disliked christian for that last scene, and couldn’t believe what he was watching. Which makes me think for those that haven’t read the book as a stand alone film does it make sense? Most of us know whats happening behind the scenes as we’ve read it to death.
Maybe I need to see it a second time, but I didn’t think there was enough turmoil going on with Ana being one day fearful of christian and the next not. Don’t get me wrong Dakota really did surprise me.
And last comment what’s with Christian telling her about his past and why he’s the way he is while she is sleeping?

But like all films the book will always be better as we can be in the head of the protagonist.

So true! That ending needed a LOT more anguish. The movie goers I’ve spoken to who hadn’t read the book tell me they were confused as hell. And they came away NOT liking CG. Without all the color of the subtext I can understand why. Lovely comment, thanks!

Wathed it with my best friend who also is a big fan of FSOG….i kind of have mixed feelings, like most….I LOVED Dakota and Jamie as A&C , loved Kate, loved Taylor (eventhough he was in like 1 minute total) didn’t like Elliot (though we would maybe liked him more ih he actualy had more lines) …other were kind of not important…i believe that it was hard to make all the scenes in 2 hours but i really missed scenes like …C returning to Ana’s after spanking /her going to C’s room in Georgia/ restaurant after Georgia/ and finaly seeing Ana break down at the and when Taylor drives her home…oh, and also their e-mail excahnge….that was SO important…Damn…”it’s easy to be the General after the bettle”-i know, but….oh, but still regardles to all, pardom my Frencj I can’t fu… wait for part 2! by the way Monique, can we expect any updates on your story…i realy loved it and miss it…pretty please…

    Hello from CANADA

Saw FSOG twice on the weekend. do you think I liked it? LOL

I thought JAMIE and Dakota did a fantastic job in the movie.

Alot of the reviews were really harsh about the acting.

CHRISTIAN is very standoffish in the first book. He is struggling with his wanting to punish Ana but he so falling in love with her right ladies?
If you have watched THE FALL JAMIE could be very scary, but also very vulnerable and loving with his daughter.

I agree about the actor playing ELLIOT .He was a hydrate wetter!! Sorry

Loved Marcia Gay Harden as Christian’s mom. She needs to be in it more get rid of Elliot. LOL

Monique have read your fanfiction and enjoyed it very much.

    Thanks for letting me comment

Thought the movie was ok I didn’t care for Mia not what I picturedd in my hard. I knew going in that I’d never be satisfied when a book I love becomes a movie. Because of time constraints they just can’t put enough in. But I was a little disappointed. Would have loved if Christian asked Ana “how sore she was” and the boathouse scene could have been different if iJose,s flowers were mentioned to show Christian’s jealousy and Ana could have had the opportunity to say no showing a subs power. Last the final scene in the playroom wonder why Ana didn’t say no. I thought that was significant in the book because it’s brought up in Darker. No matter I plan to see it again and hope since my excitement is over I can just enjoy it and can’t wait for Darker to be out.

I re-read all of FSOG last week in anticipation of the movie. I guess I had low expectations, because I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it on Saturday. I do agree with everyone’s sentiments about Elliott and I wish Mia had had more lines. I kinda liked the idea that some scenes were not completed, like the panty scene. I felt like I knew something that someone who hadn’t read the book didn’t know. (Oh, and that boardroom scene was just hot to me, even though it was supposed to be in a restaurant). There is definitely no way that the movie could have put everything in it, and I understand that. So, I am anxiously waiting the DVD release, like an unrated director’s cut or something!!!

Monique, I just found this blog a few days ago. I am about halfway through and I just love your writing. Everytime, I think it’s about to end, we get another story and I love it. I so love the idea of Christian and Ana and your spin was breathtaking.

    Hello Monique

I was trying to politely say that the actor who played Elliot was a dog. As in dogs like to pee on hydrants. So hydrant wetter. LOL

I wanted to say my favorite scene in the movie was the negotiation scene.. I thought it was very very sexy . The lighting for the scene , how far apart they were, Ana laughing, and CHRISTIAN giving her that look that I imagine in my head as I read the books.

When Christisn said your leaving ? and Ana says what would happen if I stayed?

CHRISTIAN undoing his tie. Saying he hoped she was naked under her dress.
He tells her what he would like do and she ask if it would be on the desk.

No nudity and it was so hot!!!!

    Ciao Gloria

Yesterday was my movieday. I am still recovering….lol! 😉 Must see it a second time! I have never watched a movie that was flashing by so fast! Very weird experience….. I felt it was too short! I missed a lot of important scenes. But that was no surprise of course. I knew it was impossible to make the perfect movie. I think they did a good job so far. Loved how everything was filmed, loved Dakota and Jamie!
Dakota was funny, and Jamie, well, I think the massive negative reactions he got were unfair. His lines were somewhat stiff….but very true to the book. And his character gets far more interesting in the next books I think. Getting a lot of feed back from the fans I am sure the next movie will be different. I cannot wait.
Read a lot about the tension between EL and Sam….true???? It most have been very difficult to bring the story to life with the writer breathing down your neck! I think she can be proud of herself!
Another thing, what would the movie have looked like if it was made in Europe? Interesting thought!
I do hope that for the next movie they will do this:

-Show Christians care fore Ana after red-room sessions! I really missed it in this film!
-Pick the important scenes from the book and make them flow better
-Make the ‘ he pushes her to the wall’scene as hot as it is in the book!!!!!
    Very important to me!
-Give Jamie some ‘space’ with his role. He needs it! ( and yes more shirtless, butt showing scenes, YES please!)
-And finally, HURRY UP with the next movie!

    Dear Monique,
I found the film very disappointing, and I think the reason you’re not hearing more negative reports is because people who haven’t read the book probably don’t know about you or your blog. If I had never read FSOG, I wouldn’t guess Christian and Ana were falling in love.
It was way too chopped up — I felt like the screenwriter read every tenth page, then said OK, I’ve got the gist of it. When Ana says she’s a virgin, CG basically says “I’ll fix that.” No tenderness; no chance for her to have second thoughts.
I was disappointed with some of the casting. I thought Kate was too cute; I expected her to be more glamourous. I pictured CG’s pediatrician mother as older and softer-voiced, and Elliott didn’t look like an older brother or a successful builder. As for Taylor, aren’t those ex-military guys usually clean-shaven when they have a buzz cut?
I’ll go see the next one regardless, but I’d really like to see it done by a different director and screenwriter.
Frankly, I’d like to see your version as the sequel after that! I go back and re-read portions of yours every few weeks. Do keep writing!
