Between the covers book club

Hello, lovely ladies 😉

Is it just me or is this year flying by? I cannot believe that it’s almost Easter!

I’ve had a very frustrating reading month so far. I’m not really getting into anything. I’m looking for something GREAT to sink my teeth into, something that’ll call to me from my iBook app, stealing my sleeping hours and filling them with seductive words….*sigh*

This week I read:

hs d nm

Heat Seeker by Lora Leigh, book three in the Elite Ops series, was a good read but not as great as the previous ones. If you enjoy well written, consuming action along with intense, heated need between the characters then you’ll love this series.

The Deal by Elle Kennedy, book one of the Off-Campus series, was a good read. Think Beautiful Disaster with a delicious side of hotness.

Nine Minutes by Beth Flynn, book one in the Nine Minutes series, was…. interesting. I was concerned that the premise of this story would be too upsetting for me, but despite my reservations, that was not the thing that bothered me. This book is very well written; I can’t fault the author’s writing, and it has a twist in the end, but the whole soft-hearted, hardened criminal duality, I felt, was not plausible. Also, I seriously missed the steamy lovin’ that we’ve come to associate with a great read.

On my shelf I have:

mihe

Monster In His Eyes by JM Darhower, book one in the Monster In His Eyes series.

book2 (2)

For those of you with kiddos….

I hope you have a beautiful week, girls and PLEASE, share your great reading finds with us.

Thank you very much, Yamara. I’ll check those out. I’ve got so many pre ordered books that I’m waiting on, ones I cannot WAIT to read, but in the mean time I’m stuck! LOL!

I can’t stop my obsession w Fifty Shades of Grey, so can’t get into reading anything else. I love all the Fan fictions on the book, but only a few really put a start and ending to their works. You being on of the few!!
Thanks for your love of the story.

Yeah, it’s a very big issue with fan fic. I was also accused of that a couple of times but over the last three years we’ve moved so many times that at times it was very hard for me to settle down enough to write. Alas, I got around to finishing it for which I’m very grateful. I don’t think all readers understand what goes into the commitment of writing fan fic, and to do so without any remuneration. I also think the writers underestimate the time it takes from your life and they just can’t keep all the balls in the air. Have you read the Crossfire series or the This Man series?

Mo, my best friend told me Monster in his eyes is awesome, I haven’t read it yet… I feel you can enjoy 3,2,1 by J.A Huss is dark kind of Alessandra Torre’s Tight but more intense! Kx

I loved 3,2,1, but for me Tight was way more intense. Yeah, I hear Monster is great but I’m a little hesitant to read something that heavy right now. I’ve had a slew of “heavy” books lately so I’m looking for something on the lighter side of awesome… 😉

Hi all, well it’s mothers day in the UK so at the minute I’m still in bed chilling before I motivate myself to get my lazy arse moving lol
Last week I finished the This Man trilogy again, thats what I’m looking for something that will excite me but also make me laugh, swoon and keep me awake at nights! Club Wicked Series gave me some of that but not all!
I also read The Experiment by Elliott Mabeuse, this was recommended to me, it wasn’t a long book I enjoyed it I think!
I have a few more of his books to look at but I need the next big trilogy hopefully I’ll find it soon 😁

I’m in a reading slump, also. I just can’t seem to find the “right” book…lol. I went to Goodreads and looked for books with “a lot” of 5 stars and found Driven by K. Bromberg. It has 17,000 5 stars and 9,000 4 stars. I actually prefer my book references from here better, we all seem to be like minded. I’ll get back to you and let you know if I agree with 17,000 5 star people.

I read “3.2.1” and “Monster in His” eyes and liked them both.

I read “Tight” by Alessandra Torre. I love some of the phrases she comes up with in her writing. And the book was good, but had to force myself to finish it. Not sure I understand why. 3.2.1. was a nice change of pace from my other reading, and I enjoyed it.
Monster in his Eyes sounds interesting….hmm. It might, maybe, possibly, be next for me.

I have like scads of downloaded free and .99 cent books that sounded of possible interest at the time of download….I don’t know why I look for something else to read when I have so many books sitting there. I need to close my eyes, and just pick one and see if it speaks to me. Then if I don’t like them, I’m afraid to remove them from my Kindle that I’ll forget I didn’t like them and get them again!! I do put them into a “yuck” folder. And I’ve got to stop looking at my Bookbub posts. I almost always get one or two off the list.

Monique…love the “nonfictional feelings about fictional characters”. Totally my life these days!

Yeah, Tight is not my favorite but she’s an exceptional writer. And I do the exact same thing!! Buy more and more with books waiting on my shelf… And Goodreads should definitely have a “yuck” list so you DON’T get updates from the authors you’ve read but disliked. Yes, the little joke was cute. So true. Thank you for your comment, Sharon 😉

Hi Ladies… Well I had some “Sawyer” for my birthday!! I wish!! I always go back to Nicole’s books when I am in a slump because they are hot, entertaining and not to demanding. If you want a “grab you read” I read “Insidious” and told Monique that as much as it affected me I could not put it down. I did however have to go to the lighter Nicole Edwards after that cause it was tense!! There were a lot of book releases listed but I am really waiting for “Deep” and “Manwhore” … Share if you stumble across a keeper!! 😉

LOL! Avoiding authors you did not enjoy is just as important as following the ones you did. I read SO many books that sometimes I cannot remember if the author was good or bad. LOL! Guess that comes with the territory of my age…
