Between the covers book club

Hello lovely ladies 🙂

Another weekend, and sadly, at least on my side of the world, almost over!

As far as I know there isn’t much happening on the movie front right now, but I do have a few things to share:

This is a stunningly romantic edit of the movie reel

And the full movie soundtrack on YouTube

This link is from Susan; Buzzfeed reports on the 21 hottest romance scenes described in just three words…. Entertaining and funny and may just tweak you to a new author you might want to try 🙂

This week I read:

bc b

Body Check by Elle Kennedy was a great, light read. I always enjoy this author’s cute and juicy books.

Bang by E.K. Blair, book one in the Black Lotus series, was incredible; certainly good enough for my Best of the Best Award, but as it’s so very dark, I hesitate to award it. This book is NOT for everyone, and if you’re looking for something less intense then I suggest you walk away. It was powerfully poignant, brittle, and left me heart sick at times. I adored Declan as a character, my latest book boyfriend, but there are no rose tinted forever-afters in this harsh read. The twisted tale traces a harrowing path that you can’t help but follow, all the while knowing full well that a bang of epic proportions are coming….

Currently I’m reading

The Friend Zone by Kristen Callihan, book two in the Game On series. After the punch in the gut that Bang delivered, I reached for something less consuming and it came in the form of this delightful read. I loved the first book in the series but I’m liking this one even more. Gray is a yummy book boyfriend to add to the ever growing list, and coupled with this writer’s great story telling ability, an absolute must read.

On my shelf I have:

Echo by E.K. Blair, book two in the Black Lotus series. Frankly I’m a little apprehensive about this read. The first one was rough, and I hear the second is another burning, gritty page turner. Before you start this series you might want to consider waiting for book three which is due out later this year.

Then, with the compliments of Goodreads, the books we can expect from our fav authors in the month of June…

This made me giggle! I just love the expectant look on his face…

Have a lovely week, girls and remember to share your sexy book finds with us 🙂

Isn’t it a stunning pic?

This week I read:

Spencer by Kerry Heavens was a great little find. I certainly won’t be making super cocky Spencer my next book boyfriend, but I enjoyed this fiery read. Good stuff!

Heart’s a Mess by Kylie Scott was one of this great author’s earlier works and I was curious to see what came before her wonderful Stage Dive series. I enjoyed it, but it was short.

Currently I’m reading:

I’m on a bit of an Elle Kennedy trip at the moment and this one, Body Check, is looking good so far.

I’ll leave you with this baffling picture…

Horse? What horse?? LOL!

The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan, book one in the Game On series was a great little find. Well written with a good measure of angst, some whopping emotion, and a side of deliciousness that packed just the punch I needed. I really enjoyed this book.

All Things Pretty by M Leighton, book three in the Pretty series was another great read.  (Yes, I’ve forgiven her for the crappy ending in Pocket Full of Sand). I loved that the female protagonist wasn’t the squeaky clean stereotype that we see so often, but there is a part two of this book (3.5) that really belongs with part one, not broken up into two books. Though the author admits this, she states publisher contractual clauses as the reason. I just don’t understand why a publisher would be stupid enough to make an author split a book like this. It’s not as though they make money off the second which Leighton has published for free. Can you say: odd!!??

Currently I’m reading:

All Things Pretty Part two by M Leighton.

On My shelf I have:

Spencer by Kerry Heavens

Love this saucy girl…

That’s it from me. Have an awesome weekend, girls 😉

Hello, lovely ladies 🙂

Let me wish those of you who are mums a wonderful Mother’s Day! I hope you enjoy your breakfast in bed AND that you take a moment to appreciate what a wonderful gift it is to be a mum 🙂

We’ll kick off with some mommy fun…

This one made me smile…

Moving on to FSOG news. Again, I have a lot of things to share as the DVD has finally hit the shelves!

More of Darker:

Say You Love Me by Jessie Ware, the extended DVD song. It’s beautiful and very fitting, I think 😉

The People site supplies a FULL LIST of all the additions to the unrated edition along with their time slots within the movie.

Hollywood Life reports that Jamie may be going full frontal in Darker. Oh my…..

Cheat sheet: everything you need to know about the DVD from In Style

Just Jared shares insider info on the alternative ending featured on the FSOG DVD.

The Stir features an article about the degree of heartache of the alternative ending.

From Clizbeats: Republic Records release a FSOG remix album.

Then, Ellen has some fun with the extended teaser for Darker:

If you’re fiercely protective of the movie I suggest you give this “honest trailer” a skip. It certainly doesn’t reflect my feelings on the trailer but it is funny!

Thank you, Susan and the 50 Shades of Grey Support Facebook page for some of these FSOG picks-of-the-week.

 This week I read:

or tm hotm

Overruled by Emma Chase, book one in The Legal Briefs series was a confusing one for me. While I love Emma Chase’s writing, and especially enjoy her male POV perspective, I found it very hard to find a character to identify with. The “love-triangle-that-wasn’t-a-trio” left me alternating between annoyance and bewilderment. Needless to say, as you can tell from this review, it was not my favorite.

The Mistake by Elle Kennedy, book two in the Off Campus series was a great read; sweet, sassy, and sexy young love at its best. I loved it!

Heat of the Moment by Elle Kennedy, book one on the Out of Uniform series was a delicious little novella but wayyy too short for my liking.

 Currently I’m reading:

The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan, book one in the Game On series.

If you’re a big fan of Christina and Lauren, check out their blog for cute shorts featuring the characters of Beautiful Player – by far my favorite in the series.

When Susan and I aren’t editing the hell out of Meander, and not debating the merit of a single word in a sea of 4000, then this is EXACTLY what we sound like….

LOL! I bet you can relate??

Every girl deserves a girlfriend with whom she can swoon over book boyfriends and the sometimes stray paths a series veers into!

And finally, our last Mother’s Day joke…

mothers day

Have an awesome weekend, girls. Don’t forget to share your latest and greatest reads with us!

This, also from the Laters, Baby! site: a behind the scenes look at shooting the movie:

This week I read:

Pocket Full of Sand by M Leighton was interesting. I’m not sure how I feel about this book. As always the writing was great but the ending was not in the usual style. It almost feels as if she wasn’t able to commit to the outcome of a certain direction and then left it up to the reader to decide. Also, just as a warning, the background story of the female protagonist and her daughter was very confronting.

My Wicked Valentine by Ann Mayburn, book one in the Club Wicked series, was not for me. It ticked all the boxes; broken billionaire playboy hottie meets sassy good-hearted woman, both fall hard and fast for kinky love neither was looking for, but it’s all been done before – thoroughly. To me, it felt contrived. However, if you’re keen on a repeat performance, then you’ll love this steamy read.

Currently I’m reading:

Overruled by Emma Chase, book one in The Legal Briefs series. So far, it seems to lack Emma’s trademark wit, but I’m reserving my opinion until I get to the end.

On my shelf I have:

The Mistake by Elle Kennedy book two in the Off-Campus series.
