This week I read:
Pucked by Helena Hunting, book one in the Pucked series, was nothing short of a phenomenally fun read. I laughed so hard at times I felt ridiculous doing it out loud. For the great humour in the steamy read I’m happy to say I have another book to add to my Best of the Best list! Yay!
It’s funny though, because I’ve read a previous book from her that I didn’t enjoy at all; so much so that I didn’t bother finishing it. But the romantic comedy thing? She’s got it down pat.
Sincerely Carter by Whitney Gracia Williams was a cute little read. I enjoyed it but it didn’t make the earth move for me.
Currently I’m reading:
The Offer by Karina Halle.
On my shelf I have:
Trouble by Samantha Towle. Since rediscovering this great author I’m reading everything I can get my hot little hands on! 😉

I also read Pucked last week, took a little longer than usual because I wasn’t allowed to read in bed, laughing out loud at 1am didn’t go down too well with hubby lol.
Violet made me cringe quite often and even though I felt it wasn’t a particularly good story I really enjoyed it for the humour.
I am now reading On my knees by J Kenner and as usual I’m loving it.
I have Trouble on my kindle but to be honest I don’t know if I read it or not I’ll have to look through it.

Yeah I actually commented on that in my Amazon review my boys were asking what I was in a wrinkle at (laughing till I cried) when I told them about the cape for mc they looked at me like the mad woman I am lol

The stuff in the drawer in the red room – the strap with metal loops looks just like part of a running martingale which is a piece of horse tack. The reins run through the loops and the bottom is attached to a neck strap which has a further strap running between the horses forelimbs to the girth. It’s to stop the horse from throwing its head too high. Does sound a bit red roomish, doesn’t it? 😀

Ok I just put down GREY, is fair to say that I was kind of expecting ‘more’? I liked it but is was hard to get into it.. Is good to be abble to read Christian’s thoughts and all but is was sometimes off.

I finished reading “If Only” by Cherise Sinclair one of the books in the Masters of Shadowland series. I think it was one of the best in the whole series. If you have not read this series I highly recommend it. Sex, BDSM, love and mistery. When I really like a book and I finish it it I have a feeling of such let down. Do any of you feel the same way? It’s like bring on the alcohol or anxiety meds! If you have this feeling what ‘s the name of the book that did that to you? “Grey” did not do it for me. I needed headache meds after reading it.

I have Tiffany Reisz on my shelf to read next. Just a bit concerned that that after reading some reviews the books sound a bit/maybe a lot intense. I prefer the BDSM with a love compontent.

Oh Crystal, there’s love and plenty of it but definitely between kinky characters. Don’t expect the usual, but her characters are extremely original and so deeply developed. The DBSM aspect is quite harsh but it suits the story. I would definitely start at the beginning and though the first book was awesome you REALLY appreciate the magnitude of the story once you’ve read a few books. Reisz is in a class of her own but I suspect that compared to Shadowlands a little tamer in the boudoir. I recall Shadowlands to be very… overt 😉 I don’t think you can really compare the two though the genre is the same. It’s certainly intense but in the best possible, gripping way.

Crystal, Tiffany has a whole different level of character development than the Shadowland series, which I also love…but it doesn’t get any better than Tiffany Reisz. However, it is like the Shadowland series in that you need to read the books in sequence, or you miss out on too many character details. Start with The Siren. You will totally love Eleanor, Kingsley and Soren. I’m going to reread the entire series before her final book in the series that comes out in October.

I can’t believe she’s ending it! I was so sad when I saw that this will be the end. What an amazing ride it’s been with the Original Sinners and all the spin off books! And Soren? Oh my – even though he scares me a little!!! 😉

Well, about “Grey”. I loved the original books even though Ana’s inner goddess drove me nuts. The story was great and the character of Christian Grey unforgettable. I do think this book is a disappointment as it regurgitated far too much of the original. The saving grace is the end of the book which delves a little more into the mind of CG with the help of the good Doctor, otherwise I would have awarded 2 stars.

So glad y’all are talking about the ending of GREY cause I have read the same wording between Christian and the good Dr. somewhere else. It is driving me crazy as to where I have read it. I have looked at FSOG Darker, but nothing there so I am now trying to reread the two stories on the internet of Christian POV. The sentence that is really hitting home is on page 544 “her leaving you has triggered your abandonment issues and your PTSD”. Does anyone know where there is another reference to Christian PTSD is mentioned. I have great memory for stupid bits of nonuseful trivia, but I know I have read about his PTSD somewhere else. There are other wording that are used in this same exchange between CG and Flynn that I have read other places.

No new books since Grey. I’ve been skimming through some old books as I’ve been out of town. Looking forward to trying Pucked! I do enjoy Kristen Ashley’s books, and she has a couple of series (The ‘Burg and the Magdalene series) I’ve not tried…so considering those. I think part of it is the series title is uninteresting, so haven’t been motivated. Have any of you tried them? I’ve enjoyed all of her books, and loved some of them…so I’ll let you know how it goes.

I don’t actually see any of her in my library… Going to look her up. I did enjoy the new Nicole Edwards “Beautifully Brutal” it was not too complicated but held my attention amd she laced it with some steamy bits!! I did also enjoy M.S. Parker “Chasing Perfection” … Just in case you are surfing the book stores for new reads!!

Hey Sharon, I’ve only read parts of her Unfinished Hero series. I enjoyed them but her style is very distinct. I need a break between books from her or else they just blend into one. I LOVED Pucked!! Let me know how you get on with it 😉

Love a closer look at the Red Room supplies!! Almost done Grey. It did take me awhile, not sure why. I do love everything Christian just not sure EL is giving me enough. I am still “tied for life” though.
I followed Katherine’s great advice and went to the Kenner books… Gotta say I loved “On My Knees” and Say My Name… I really liked how she wove the story into Damien and still made it, it’s own story… If that makes sense. I don’t know about the rest of you L.O.G.S (ladies of grey) but if the wroter uses a name that turns me off than I have a real hard time connecting to that character… Enter Sylvia… I have a good friend named Sylvia so I have no clue why it drove me nuts!! Hmmm maybe I am picturing Jackson with my friend!! Naw.

It is beautifully amazing, my friend. And all due to you special ladies of Grey *wink, wink* I’m hesitant to go back to Kenner; that fist series I read felt so much like a blend of FSOG and Crossfire, but without the original elements that makes a book in the genre seem fresh, however, Pucked recently showed me that I could reread an author I didn’t enjoy previously… Hmmmm… What to do? Great to hear from you! X

I was leary to go back to her too… I was really disappointed in “Play my Game” but I took a leap of faith some pay off some don’t. I wonder now though if what you said is true for me as well… I am really searching for books but maybe because I read too many similar and they all blend together?? I definitely would not be up for a blend of my beloved men… Christian, Jesse or Gideon… In a book at least !!! 😉
The one book that comes to mind is the 4th one snuck into to Hardwired
Series… I am gonna wait for your call on that puppy!!!

I HATE when authors/publishers do that; make a three series into a four. It always feels as though the penultimate one consisting of two chapters stretched to within an inch of their lives over the course of a full book. It sucks. I’m apprehensive for Hardwired also because book three really should have been the end if that series. Sylvia Day did the sane thing with Crossfire; where book one and two was awesome, the rest sort of petered out and who knows when we’re seeing the final??? Every month I try pre ordering it!! As for the blending, I’m so with you on that. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the recipe, boy meets girl, drama ensues – liberally painted with hotness and angst, followed by a glowing HEA, but sometimes I feel as though an author has a dart board of FSOG and Crossfire scenes, she throws the dart and writes the exact scene with her book’s minute twist. It gets sooo old, and besides, between Erika and Sylvia did it so exceptionally well they are impossible acts to follow!! Rant over – sorry! On a much lighter note, have you read Pucked?

No just came back to site to check its name again!! I did read “Trouble” in fact read the ENTIRE book last night… You are a very bad influence girlfriend – one that should be indulged in often. Off I go to decide if Pucked is for me. OMG I totally forgot there was another crossfire!! One every two years!! I have to wholeheartedly agree I HATE that dragging it out it almost kills the book!!

Hey ladies I am coming back for a final rant!! First I have to say that Grey got better the more I read and hearing Christians humour and doubt does add to the experience…
Now for my dumbest ever move. So you know I am book surfing after having greedily read “Trouble” all in one night!! I am such a book hog!!
So ya’ know those little rater stars for the books… Well who picks them cause I just read “Dirty Secret” won’t name the author… And my god how stupid am I for trusting those freakin’ stars. 4.5 stars maybe after 4.5 litres of alcohol !! 😉 My god ladies 28 chapters about how a girl got pregnant ran from her rocker boyfriend and hid it cause she thought she was too fat to stay with him!! The best part was the little girl, she actually carried the story!!
Awww. My L.O.G.S why do I stray? Why do I not just stick to the lovely picks… Guess I would not make a great sub. ;(

I usually use the Goodreads ones as a guide and then only from readers that I know from here; girls I know have the same taste as I do. Have you read Revved by Samantha Towle?

Howdy….I too have a big problem with the stars rating since I’ve been burnt a few times too many. Now on Amazon, if it gets 4.5 and there are significant 1’s and 2’s….I go to read those negative ratings. If it’s something more than the book didn’t arrive on time, I pay attention when there is a substantive complaint about characters, writing, etc.
I’m 53% into Pucked (what happened to what page are you on?!) and it makes me smile but not to the extent of my laugh-out-loud measure: Wallbanger. She seems more repetitive than she should for not bad writing and pacing, but she does something that annoys me in this age of everyone-knows-FSOG: she keeps popping in scenes or scene-lets that are total nods to FSOG. Um, the whether the car is road-worthy comes to mind, but there were quite a few others. Like she’s doing Shades of 50.
I just finished CD Reiss’ Songs of Perdition (two out with third in August). She is an absolutely superb writer, by any genre standard. I got turned on to her with the very long and very very much worth it Songs of Submission series.
Gotta go. Will miss being online for a few weeks while I’m off to Europe to hike in the Alps. LIfelong dream. So amazing when dreams like this end up happening.

Hi Monique, I would like to say I think the producers of the movie got the red room of pain nearly 100% accurate. Only thing missing was the St. Andrews Cross. I didn’t like the movie, nor did I like the 4th book. Nice blog read.
