Between the covers book club and Spanish chapter

Hello, lovely ladies 😉

Half my weekend was spent on the phone with tech support. Blegh! What a way to spend a Saturday, huh? I LOVE technology but damn, when things go wrong…. it’s no fun!

Firstly, Kereny sent me the latest Spanish chapter – thank you, girlfriend. Please find chapter 60 in the sidebar for your reading pleasure! 😉

We’re seeing some very contradicting news about Darker this week, but what’s new, right? LOL! Variety reports on the possibility of locking down a new director for the movie, which brings us to Latin Post’s article on why production has been pushed out to January 2016. Interestingly, this post claims that Jamie has AGREED to a full frontal in Darker, but Inquisitir hints at Jamie keeping it clean. Personally, I prefer the subtle side of loving for the movie, but only time will tell….

Thank you to Susan and the Fifty Shades of Grey. Pictures, News and Stories Facebook page for the news.

I came across this fan made insight into Leila’s damaged mind, a chilling glimpse into her broken spirit….

This week I read:

l t

Luke by Sabrina Paige, book three in the West Bend Saints series, was okay. Every now and again I come across a book like this, it has ALL the elements to make it a stunner, but for some reason, it fails to keep me enthralled. It’s nothing I can put my finger on, but it’s a no from me on this one. However, if this is a series you enjoy, then buying book three as an ebook is great value as it contains both the previous two. Also, they can be read as standalone novels despite the author’s caution to the contrary.

Tyrant by T.M. Frazier, book two in the King series, was another rough ride but a great read. I did not see that plot line coming! I will definitely be waiting for book three, though that will tell Bear’s story…

Currently I’m reading:

cm

Chase Me by Tessa Bailey, book one in the Broke and Beautiful series. I’m so loving this author right now!!

Here’s a pic I know ya’ll will be able to relate to:

Sound familiar? LOL!

Also, I found this in a search of “special libraries”

beach

I’m not sure how the books hold up to sand and soggy towels but what a great idea! This beach library/book exchange is on Bondi Beach, Sydney.

Ha! Yes! I concur compeletey! LOL! 😉

That’s it, girls. I hope you have a beautiful weekend!

    Good morning Monique,
My reading week started of awful but I’m happy to say got a lot better.
First I read The Bed and the Bookshelf by Leonara Morrison, this is the girl who stated she was better than EL, well what a load of shite that book was, I couldn’t even finish it. Really awful no story line. To be honest I didn’t know if it was supposed to be true or what! It was written in the style of a diary and was basically ramblings about internet chat rooms I think! The only good part was when her partner of 16yrs was caught cheating and he told her she was crap in bed and her answer was “you weren’t saying that when I was on my knees sucking your dick with my finger up your ass” that made me laugh but that was it, so a big resounding NO from me.
I then read The 27 Club by Kim Karr, really enjoyed this one, loved Nate and Zoey, will definitely read more of her books.
Nothing jumping out at me to read next so I’m a wee bit stuck.
Need a great series to get the juices flowing, any suggestions?
    Have a great week

Whahahaha! I hear ya! I can stand a lot of things in books but incoherent, incohesive rambling sucks! And I hate abandoning a story but needs be! Life is too short to read sh@tty books!! LOL! I’ll check out Kim Karr, I’ve seen her around. Thanks for checking in with us, Kath 😉

I finished Tyrant; holy plot twist ! Didn’t see that coming !
I thought the boot coming down when he was beating her was it connecting with her head ?
Can’t wait for Bear’s story either.
I read Before We Were Strangers by Renee Carlino on Friday (instead of packing to move to campus 😐 ) which I found really sweet. Was what I needed to get back into the swing of things as I read it in less than a day because I couldn’t put it down !

This week I read a couple of books by JM Darhower, the author of “Monster in His Eyes”, and really liked them. The first one was “The Mad Tatter” a stand alone book about a tattoo artist and a ballerina. The second was “Sempre”, the story of a slave girl and a mafia son. Sempre does not have a cliff hanger, but there is a 2nd book “Sempre Redemption” that is on my bookshelf now.

Hi Ladies: I went for “Never say Never” by Nicole Edwards. Although I would very rarely ” never say never “to her books I cannot mask a little disappointment. I said a while ago that Nicole has got at least 4 series on the go she is best at hot steamy sex… Of all kinds I think she is trying to spread her wings abit a go to writing about more!! She has added so many people in this Sniper 1 Series, all getting a story I assume, I am finding it hard to attach to the characters there are so many!! Then she tied the girl character of Sniper 1 into the Souther Boy Mafia series ( by marrying her off to the mafia boss) which by the way is her way hotter read!! Either I am getting too old too keep so many characters straight or its just a canvas that is way to full to make an impactful impression. But I am the real pansy cause yeah I will buy the next one for some reason I can “never say no” to this writer.

God hoping for one of our gripping series to send something our way soon! The hard limits comes soon (oops no pun intended)!! What happened to Gideon?? Is he dead… Like just how long a break between books do y’all need!!

    Hugs ❤

I’ve noticed that Nicole has a new book out almost every month when I see the Goodreads newsletter and the same thought has crossed my mind. How can you be that prolific and still maintain quality? As for your other question, have you read Tessa Bailey? I’m crushing hard on this chick! Loving her books! The King series was great if not a tad gritty, Chasing Fire was good if you want something like FSOG… Yesssss! Can’t wait for Gideon. I’m guessing December release or bust!

I was looking at Officer off Limits ~ by Tessa but its not the first in the series. King series?? With Nora or different?
I am afraid I have to sadly agree that Nicole cannot maintain the quality and it is really sad cause I could never “stop” reading the freakin books all night long!! I did do a review on her post after the read… Went with a very tactful less is sometimes more….direction. Hot passionate stories turned to bubblegum bromances!! <3. Ewww that's a good one! 😉

    Hi Monique!
I am just tickled pink that you love Tessa Bailey, too! I just finished reading Make Me, her third in the Broke and Beautiful Series and sadly, her last. That Russell…WOW! I fangirled hard when I met her in February at a book signing. She has more series coming up though, and I. Can’t. Wait.

I am waiting to see Gideon Cross. I love that story so much! Do you think it will come out this year? I haven’t heard a word yet.

Right Now I am reading Hard as You Can by Laura Kaye. I love her Hard Ink Series, and I believe this is the last novel in that one 😦

I still need to read Grey. Did you?

I’m going to believe Gideon is coming out when I see it on Amazon. In the meantime, I am truly struggling to get into Beautiful Bastard. I’m maybe on the 5th chapter…and I have put it down several times during each chapter, because it surely is not drawing me in. I keep saying to myself, “Self…there has got to be some good stuff in here….just dig through all the meaningless sex with two people that aren’t EVEN interesting until you find it. My beloved LOG’s at bookclub gave it enthusiastic thumbs up….so just keep going back.” Currently the BB is shopping for panties. Please tell me I’m just around the corner from it getting interesting!! Or am I just not suited for this particular series?
So…in between the periods of forced reading, I’ve been catching up on some of my fan fiction follows. Fan fiction just amazes me….there are some lovely well-written stories out there that equal or better most of what I pay for on Amazon. (Yes….I am including your fabulousness, Monique.) The only difficult thing is that you have to wait for that next chapter to post…and sometimes it never does. That is a heartbreaker. So glad that you pushed through to the finish line and are now fine-tuning, Monique. And I am thinking it is time to enjoy your story again.
OK ladies, I am committing to at least one more chapter on BB tonight. But seriously, I could use some encouragement. At this rate, I might maybe finish this book before Fifty Shades Darker is released in 2017!

I was never in love with those and found them pricey but… How bad can it be after you got the panties bought surely it goes “up” from there. Hahahahaha… Sorry you are too funny I was thinking maybe you should hold that pantie thought and go read some dirty biker stories from Kristen Ashley ~ ride Staedy and Fire Inside~ they were sexy, with a good story and some bad-ass bikers!! No panties in that series!! Nope none. 🙂

Thank you for making my night!!

I agree, have already read those books from Kristen Ashley, but always enjoy another reading of her books. They comfort me between readings of books like BB. Didn’t make it thru another chapter last night, I think I have decided to skim through the rest of the book and move on. Just not my cup of tea, different strokes for different folks, and all that sort of thing. The good news is that I didn’t buy the whole series right away, which I have done from time to time.

Whahahaha! Yes, Sharon! I’m with you on BB. It certainly wasn’t my fav in the series, but in my defence, I was still new to the genre when I read it. I can tell you that the rest of the series improves with each passing book. It seems that this dynamic duo of authors only gets better with time. Player was my fav book and Max from Stanger is my fav book boyfriend from the series. I find the whole “angry all the time” stories a tad OTT for my liking. And double yes on the “we’ll believe it when we see it” for Gideon. If you go through Meander again, please remind me what you liked most! I love taking the journey with readers again and again 😉 As always, it’s lovely to hear from you!

Which book was Max from Stanger in, Beautiful Player? And would that be a good stand-alone book? If not, I will probably pass on going any further down the Beautiful Path.
I already know my favorite part from Meander, Christian exposing his lifestyle to the public thanks to FSOG making it so much more mainstream. And all the attention that goes to Ana as a result!! Thought that entire arc was brilliant. It will be interesting to see if I have a new favorite part on my Meander revisit!! Look forward to seeing your edited chapters.
It would be interesting to find out where everyone went after FSOG. I was fortunate that “On Dublin St” was my read # 2, followed by Gideon. Have hit multiple “yuck” and “meh” books in my reading history since, but starting out so strong firmly entrenched this genre in my heart.

Yes, I feel the same way, Sharon. Sometimes it’s hit and miss but I find it very hard to imagine a book without a little lovin’ in the side… Max is in Stranger and yes, they are all stand alone though you see some characters brought back but not in a way that leaves you confused. Yes, it was fun to write Christian coming out of the BDSM closet… 😉

Absolutely overwhelmed with all the reading done here and can’t keep it all straight. I really have to go back and start jotting down the books I might find interesting. I did read Remind Me a few weeks back and very much enjoyed it. Writing was good, but, as Monique knows I harp on, I especially liked that the locations and atmosphere were accurate for Chicago (where I once lived and just visited this week). I tried to get Release Me from the library where I had gotten volume 1 but they hadn’t acquired it so I gave the librarian a nudge. The plot turn looks interesting!
I’m currently reading CD Reiss’ Kick, the second book in the Perdition series, first one being Use. CD is an exceptionally skilled writer and I so much enjoy her craft even when I’m not exceptionally comfortable with how far she goes or dealing with unethical or significantly damaged characters. But she also does a good job educating about the LA scenes she includes.
On a whirlwind trip in the US and visiting a lot of cities seeing kids. The other day, was in San Francisco and got my husband to agree to take a trip over to Sausalito. Wanted to get the local atmosphere of the Wallbanger series. And I certainly did. Walked up the steps/street and saw lots of houses that could have been the boss’ where the main character house-sat.
Today, came up to Seattle and love the tingling of knowing where I am. Tickled when driving up I-5 and seeing the sign to Seattle. Rubbernecked as best i could as I passed the street leading up to Escala, having passed the area of Ana’s apartment. Went by the area over to the Grey family home and where the car chase was. None of this was done on purpose. I was being driven. All the more amusing b/c only I knew what I was looking at. Oh….and passed a sign for the local towing company: Lincoln towing. Priceless.
    I’m hopeless….lol

I love that you can create shelves for yourself, but as a standard set up, they have read and reading shelves where you can keep track of what you’ve read, and to-read shelves where you can wishlist to your little heart’s content, and not loose track of what intrigued you when you came across it. I would be lost without it. I seldomly use the PC site, I mostly use the app, and of course, it’s completely FREE! BONUS! 😉

Casey, if you haven’t read “On Dublin Street” by Samantha Young, do. The series continues with stand alone books with different characters, and they are enjoyable reading – but I think her first book was the best, (Braden is the secret love of my life. After Christian. And after Gideon.) and has remained a favorite for me. And if you haven’t started the Tiffany Reisz Sinners series – it is beyond fabulous. The Siren is the first book in the series. Dublin Street is a little lighter read, depending on what you are in the mood for.

Has to be Professor Gabriel Emerson, from Gabriel’s Inferno by Sylvain Reynard. Hugely popular with many, was not a fave for me, but still enjoyed reading once. However, I give the Professor a major A plus for serious skills on deflowering a virgin! Second to none! I think there are three books out there, I read the first two, and that was enough for me. He did not make it to book boyfriend level for me.

Original Sinners is a great series but not for everyone. I’d get a sample before I buy. I absolutely ADORE the series but it took me a book or so to get into it completely. The story is so BIG that you only truly understand the span of it and find the depths of the characters with more than one book from the series. Dublin street was okay for me, good but not great, and I’m 100% with Sharon on Professor Gabriel Emerson, good read but not even remotely book boyfriend material. Ug! for the release date of Crossfire. In my experience she usually releases during December except for the times she didn’t make the date… That’s happened twice so far, if I recall correctly. I’m hoping for a Christmas release but who knows??? It’s been a while since she’s published ANYTHING! Yes, we’ve all heard the Crossfire TV rumours but again, who knows? I would have imagined our community would have been alive with rumours about casting and production… As for me writing more Crossfire fan fic, I’m not sure. I need some serious inspiration if I’m gonna’ go down that route AND some time… *sigh*

That does sound interesting, and I’ve never heard of it. Thanks Cheri, I downloaded a sample. One thing I liked on her authors page is that she gives very strong kudos to E.L. James for inspiration and opening up the genre to so many new readers. I get tired of competing writers that like to look down their nose at FSOG as being unworthy. See a lot of whining on author FB groups. Just jealousy and sour grapes. They have all benefitted from FSOG whether or not it is their own personal cup of tea. I certainly wasn’t reading in the genre before FSOG….and my books are now a definite line item in our budget. (Which my hubs does not get to see.)

I’ve moved out of BB into a paranormal erotic book, which has been an enjoyable read….won’t list it as I don’t think anyone else in this group reads them, but I completely LOVED a line I read this morning in the book. It just isn’t a sentence I’ve heard used very often. Gave me a great laugh to start the day.
“No, we can’t have a relationship because he’s technically dead, but my God is he gorgeous and fucks like a Trojan.”

    HI Ladies
Sorry for missng the last couple of weeks w y’all. Sick family and now on vacation in the cool weather of the Colorado Rocky mountains. I finished “The Prince” by Tiffany Reisz, oh how I loved that book. Kept my panties wet throught the read, and had some wild sex in my own pool myself. Then I finished “The Mistress” by Tiffany Reisz. Now that damn book was a mind fucker, It keep me on the edge of my set and at times my pussy drawn up tightly. The way Tiffany takes you through a journey of each character past and how they are intertwined really plays w your mind. But I felt cheated when Tiffany did a 18 month jump ahead in the book and left out about the two babies birth, Kingsley and Zach babies. Now some one please tell me there is will be another in the red Original Sinners book. How can you leave a series like that with question like is it Zach or Soren baby and what the hell was Soren laughing at. Damn I was really pissed off with the ending.
I have the 4 books in the white Original Sinner series to read.
But as usual I leave the mind fucking books behind for a good old spanking, nipple clamps, bondage and long, thick, thick, thick cocks in the wonderful BDSM books of Cherise Sinclair. I just finished Sinclair’s
“Master of the Dark Side novella. It was a great read w soft core BDSM and a love story. Highly recommened. Now starting Sinclair’s “My Liege of Dark Haven”. I will let you know what I think about it.
