Between the covers book club

Hello, lovely ladies 🙂

I’m happy to report that summer is in full swing here in (very) sunny Australia. Hope ‘yall in the northern hemisphere are staying nice and toasty.

I’ve got lots of fun to share today. Firstly, you know how adult coloring books are all the rage right now? Susan sent me this link: Amazon Adult Coloring Book

A novel take on the idea… LOL!

I got this cute pic from Sharon: Fifty Shades of Teddies…

bear love

Sounds like something I would do 😉

Lastly, a Twitter friend passed this on:

Oh dear. Mr Bean?? Really?? LOL!

Despite going back to work this week I managed to get a lot of reading done….

BC

This week I read:

The Paper Swan by Leylah Attar was absolutely fantastic. For me, it was a real page turner. The story was pretty intense – not quite the craziness of Bang, but still, any book that kicks off with a kidnapping has to have a certain edge to it. I loved watching the story unfold and seeing the threads all come together. A great, intelligent, unrushed read.

Dirty Billionaire, Dirty Pleasures, and Dirty Together by Meghan March, books one, two, and three of The Dirty Billionaire series, was okay. Personally I felt that the progress between the two was wayyyy too quick, and the series borrowed heavily from FSOG. If you’re looking for a much naughtier version of Ana and Christian, this might be the one for you. Just as a side note: these books are relatively short, and especially considering the price, should rather have been condensed into fewer books.

Currently I’m reading:

tb

The Baller by Vi Keeland, A Down and Dirty Football Novel. No secret how this book got my attention 😉 Thank you, Susan. Who needs words with a cover like that, huh?! Let me just say this, something for you to ponder as you consider this story: his nickname is Subway…. 😉

That’s the news for today, girls. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. I’ll see ya’ next week!

Hi Monique. Not sure if you need , ” hot” guys in your summer reading, but there are some pretty cool guys around too. Kinda, ‘ men for all seasons” lol
I’m 26% through Lauren Gilley’s, Secondhand Smoke. Book 4 in the Dartmoor series. Fantastic series. In fact she is #15 on the Amazon ca Best Seller List! #60 on the .com site! Not too shabby for a newish, indie writer. She’s right up there with ; Jeffrey Archer, Ken Follett, Danille Steel and Ferm Michaels. it’s a family saga about the Lean Dogs MC. Plenty of hot guys, and great romance
Lots of great books out there 🙂

Hi Monique, I had a good reading week finally!
I started with Girl on the Net by Carina a sex blogger. It wasn’t what I thought it was going to be and the author really does have a blog all about her sexual exploits and that’s what the book was no story to it but it was ok. I then read the Dirty Billionaire trilogy, thank you so much for that, which I also enjoyed but do agree with you that it went from 0 _ 100 in a day too fast for me and the books were far too short but I enjoyed the characters and the story.
I then made a start on Pucked Over, not sure about this, only a few chapters in but I’m afraid that it’s not grabbing me like Pucked did but I will know more next week.
Based on your review I’ve downloaded The Paper Swan so I’ll give that a go then get back into the 2nd Pucked book.
Have a great week in your hot sunny weather 😕 x

I’m glad you enjoyed Dirty, Katherine. Don’t you just hate when an author does that? Charge a packet and then delivers a short read? So deceptive! 😜 I loved Paper Swan, not for the same reasons I like my usual books. It reminded me a little of Alessandra Torre. It had a good, meaty story, which I sometimes crave in the midst of all the steamy reads. Yeah, I heard book 2 of Pucked wasn’t anything to write home about. The word that was mentioned, I think, was juvenile. Let us know, girlfriend. Perhaps it’ll grow on you. I remember that was the case for me with book 1.

For the Ladies of Grey – Promised I would share some exciting Tiffany Reisz news this week….and here it is!

Found out that the next Sinners book planned will be the story of Soren at 14 years old!! Are you smiling?? Cause I sure am and I Can. Not.Wait! However, it won’t be this year…as this year her new book “The Bourbon Thief” comes out in June. We already know part of his story and what was happening at 14 years of age. WOW!!

So I LOVED that news…can’t ever get enough Soren!! But….there’s MORE!!!

The news I REALLY loved was that come December, she is publishing a book of shorts….I think perhaps including some that she has had on her website. I noticed there were a couple that had been removed. And…. (Major drum roll, please…) it is going to INCLUDE the currently unobtainable “The Confession of Marcus Stearns”!!!!! So everyone will finally be able to have it. Woooo-hoo!! I hope all of you are as happy about this news as I am!! What a great Christmas gift!! I’m going to give one to my priest! Well…maybe not. But it is fun to think about!!

I have an impeccable source for this information….an online interview taped by Tiffany herself promoting her appearance at a Book Con in Florida! For which I have already reserved my hotel room!! This is my very first Book Con….and there are some other authors that will be there that will be fun to meet, including Alessandra Torre…but of course, Tiffany is the big deal for that Sunday! Anybody want to come join me? Monique…you are due for a Florida vacation, aren’t you?? Hope you enjoyed all of my news!!

And I’ve got a girl date to go see 50 Shades of Black on Friday….will report next week!

My Ladies… I have missed you so much!! I see you kept the conversation hot without me, which warms my heart! Sharon you need to give me those bears!!!!! OMG.
So catching up, been under the weather but finally had to connect with my LOGS. Read Betrayal, Book 1 from Aleatha and now started Book 2 Cunning… Wowsa. I saw on Jodi Ellen Malpas (This man author) she read Cunning as well and the only caption was “Holy Shitballs”… Sooooo….

Wanted to read Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover but the thing costs 16.99 so have not taken that plunge yet. “Haze” by Deborah Bladon was good. Not too stressful but hot enough to singe your panties!!

So glad to here the news about Tiffany… Y’all love her so much so please send the updates. Glad to catch up, hope everyone is well!!

Hello! It’s lovely to hear from you. So sorry that you’ve not been well. Big hugs from me!
Great share, girlfriend. Thank you 😉 Is Cunning as standalone book in the series or do you HAVE to read them in order? Don’t you just hate high prices for ebooks?? $16.99??? That’s CRAZY.

Need to read in order to get full “draw you in” … There will be 4 in series with 3rd set to come out in May. I hate the wait but all of our great trilogies had a wait… Look at Gideon!!! Shit I will have another birthday before he sees the light of day. Sigh… But I will buy!! Missed you.

Mac!! So good to read your voice!! You’ve been missed. Hope you are back on your feet and kicking ass again! So until my Book Con in October, I’m going to read the authors attending that I’m not familiar with…and one is Aleatha Romig. The books I have for her are Consequences and Revealed. Have you read that series?

Fortunately for me I just completed the third book in the Crossfire series, and won’t have to wait to long for the next. I loved it, I noticed the fourth book is an analysis, would you recommend it?

    • Monique Lain says:

Hi! Good for you! Wish I could have done the same. It’s a helluva’ pain to wait THIS long for a book to come out. The fourth book is simply a continuation of the series and, as with all continuous series, a integral part of the story. I would definitely recommend you read it, but for me, both book three and four where ways to stretch the story into a longer series which in itself is a money making practice that’s both annoying and greedy. I’m hoping book five will be spectacular and bring back the spark we saw in the first two. There is A LOT that still needs to happen. I just hope she’s not going to announce another book after number 5!

Thank you for your reply. I will definitely read book four, and I agree with stretching the story out being greedy. I also hope #5 will be final, because I love the story, and she has me hooked, but this needs to end and soon.! By the way, I love your blog.

You’re welcome! And thank you very much. That’s very gratifying to hear 😉 As far as Crossfire is concerned I worry that with the sale of the series to TV, more stretches may be on the cards… I hope not, but I feel that we at least have to entertain the possibility 😜

Hi Monique and Sharon, thanks for the update on OS Sharon! That’s all great news! I knew about TCOMS and I can’t wait to read that. What other free stories were taken down? I’ve read all of them that were there in Dec 2015 and had another look yesterday….they all seem to still be there. As for the story of when S was 14yrs old….that’s when he decided to become a priest….I wonder how the story will tie in to the present…?! I will definitely buy and read it though! As for Crossfire, I would definitely keep buying and reading them if SD extends beyond OWY although I know that you wouldn’t Monique ;-)!!!! Cxx

LOL! I don’t know if I would or wouldn’t continue reading Crossfire. I guess it depends on how good book 5 is, and I just hate that she’s not upfront about it. If the TV/movie rights are sold I would imagine there is at least a chance of more books in the series. It’s hard to trust a writer that’s changed her mind so often. First three books, then five, plus the countless times she’s pushed out release dates, AND the fact that we wait so very long for books… I absolutely want more of Gideon and Eva, you know how I feel about the delicious GC, but at some point a writer has to consider her readers. Just sayin’ 😉
