Between the covers book club

Hello, lovely ladies 😉

What a busy week. Phew! I’m REALLY happy to see the weekend.

As far as I know, not much is happening in our Shady world ATM apart from Tyler Hoechlin landing the role of Boyce Fox, the author Ana meets in Freed. (Thank you, Laters, Baby site) Not sure why he’s being cast now as the coming movie is supposed to be all about Darker, but I have to say it’s an interesting choice as he’s hot enough to play CG himself….

Suddenly I looking forward to the first trailer of Darker 😉

Though not related to FSOG, I loved this fan made trailer of Ava and Jesse, the hot couple from the This Man series.

And this one also because, well: Jesse Pavelka….

Enjoy!

This week I read:

bts r

Break The Sky by Nina Lane was a fantastic read and is just what you would expect from this entertaining writer. The story is solid, the writing flawless, and the boy is bad AND hot. What more can a girl ask for? I loved it.

Ricochet by Keri Lake, book one in the Ricochet series was not for me. It came highly recommended, and I can certainly see the legitimacy of the book, but I simply cannot read anything that’s this dark. I had to abandon it about one third in. The premise is hard enough to swallow, but coupled with the horrific storyline, the read left me feeling deeply disturbed. Perhaps I’m just a big softie, but I prefer my books on the lighter side.

Currently I’m reading:

wtc

Worth The Chance by Vi Keeland, book two in the MMA Fighter series. After the horrors of Ricochet I needed something to chase the dark away. Let’s hope that Vince is up to the job…

On my shelf I have:

po

Perfect Opposite by Zoya Tessi – another recommendation.

With March just around the corner, let’s see what lies ahead in terms of new releases…

I’m especially excited about The Confessions by Tiffany Reisz! Yay! As always, the links aren’t live as the pics are screenshots taken from the fabulous Goodreads site.

Have a lovely week, girls. See ya’ next Sunday unless something exciting happens before then…

More casting news…

Hi again 😉

Just for in case you don’t already know, Brant Daugherty was cast to play Luke Sawyer. I was actually waiting for this one. I was curious to see how Erika’s vision of him lined up with mine. Personally, I think Christian might find him a little too pretty to be around his Ana…

What do you think, girls? 😘

Hello, lovely ladies 🙂

I hope y’all had a great week! I really am on a fantastic reading streak at the moment. I think I’ve added more books to my favorites list in the last month than I have since I’ve started reading this genre. Yay!

The Romanian readers will be pleased, I’ve just updated the Romanian chapters. Please find the newly translated chapter 3 in the sidebar. Thank you, Paula!

We had more casting news this week as more supporting roles get filled for Darker…..

Robinne Lee will be playing Ros, Christian’s 2IC.

rl

And Fay Masterson will be acting as the lovely Mrs Jones.

fm

This choice surprised me. I always pictured Mrs Jones an older lady.

Then, Cosmo has some fun with Fifty. Check out this cute article featuring Rebel Wilson from Pitch Perfect fame….

Moviepilot has some ideas on how to improve the Fifty franchise with Darker…

Needless to say, the old “more raunch” nugget features heavily. It’s not a suggestion I’m personally on board with. For Fifty, I’m definitely in the less-is-more camp, but I think we can almost be certain that more lovin’ is on the cards. I got this link from the Fifty Shades of Grey News Facebook page.

I love this movie poster from the Laters Baby site:

It makes it all seem so real… 🙂

This week I read:

ssoc a sool

Some Sort Of Crazy by Melanie Harlow, book two in the Happy Crazy Love series was another great read from this Frenched spin-off series . I adore a book with the perfect balance of hot, sweet and longing.

Adore by Nina Lane, book four in the Spiral Bliss series, was fantastic. Apart from the flawless, touching writing, the content is extremely pertinent. I easily identify with the real-life scenarios. Where a lot of the books in our genre can almost qualify as fantasy for all their hot, OTT lovin’, Nina’s books are so very real, the characters so plausible as they struggle with issues I can almost guarantee you see in your very own life. The wonderful thing is though that it doesn’t distract from the heat between the characters. It just goes to show, you can write a stunning, exciting series without the despotic billionaire falling for the vulnerable virgin. Not that I don’t love that particular story – as you all know, but it’s just nice to see a little realism.

Some Sort Of Love by Melanie Harlow, book 3 in the Happy Crazy Love series, was good, but not quite the standard I’ve come to expect from this writer. Perhaps I’ve just read too much from her lately.

Currently I’m reading:

bts

Break The Sky by Nina Lane, a spin-off book from the Spiral Bliss series.

Seeing as I’m from the Land Down Under, I’ll leave you with a little creepy crawly from home…

Have a great weekend, girls. Don’t forget to share your best reads with us!

Then, Sharon shared this with me. I literally laughed out loud!

It’s happening….

Hi, girls 😉 Got this pic from Susan today. Erika posted the first still from day one of the Darker shoot…. Yay!

What scene do you think this belongs to?

Happy Valentine’s Day, ladies!

Here’s hoping that you’re loved HARD today (and frankly, every other day)! And in honour of this very auspicious day, let me share this….

I saw this in a local health store and couldn’t resist snapping a pic:

Whaddya reckon, girls? The perfect gift for V-day? LOL! 😉

Or how about this little supermarket mishap? Or was it???

Oh dear….

Then, back to business. Darker news was breaking fast and furious this last week, culminating in the news we’ve all been waiting for: who is going to play the dreaded Jack Hyde…

Firstly, we found out that Arielle Kebbel will be playing the part of maneater, Gia Matteo.

ak

With the size of this particular role, I’m not too fussed about the choice, so no big news for me on this front. However, as mentioned before, Jack’s role is pretty significant, and I feel that a good decision here will definitely contribute to the feel of the movie and the subsequent success. Eric Johnson is apparently the man for the job…

eric

Hopefully his work on The Knick (amongst others) will serve as good prep for being the baddie…

I don’t know if this is fact, and, quite frankly, neither do I care, because I will DEFINITELY be celebrating this felicitous day:

Personally I think it should be declared a public holiday! 😉

This week I read:

c wsl lg

Cunning by Aleatha Romig, book two in the Infidelity series, was as expected. The series borrows heavily from FSOG, but the added twists and turns keep things interesting. I see there are two more books to come which I hope delivers on the explosive potential of the story. Five books is a lot of writing in which to maintain an intriguing dynamic. Not a top choice but the series has definitely grown on me.

Wicked Sexy Liar by Christina Lauren, book four in the Wild Seasons series, was superb. I absolutely LOVED this sweet, spicy story. So much so that I’m giving it my BoB award. I can wholeheartedly recommend this whole range as lighthearted yet super satisfying reads. You don’t have to follow the sequence, but, as always, it’s nice to get to know the peeps you meet along the way. These authors get better and better with each passing book.

BOB png

Legend by Katy Evans, book six in the Real series (the final book), was another fantastic read. I felt the same intensity and passion that made the first one; Real, a runaway success. Maverick is dark, delicious and dangerous: the ultimate bad-boy book boyfriend. To me, it feels as though Katy reconnected with what she does best: the all encompassing burning of falling in love – deeply and irrevocably so.

Currently I’m reading:

ssoc

Some Sort Of Crazy by Melanie Harlow, book two in the Crazy Love series.

On my shelf I have:

Adore by Nina Lane, book four of the Spiral Bliss series (thank you, Susan) & Some Sort Of Love by Melanie Harlow, book three in the Crazy Love series.

Phew! Lots and lots of great reading. I LOVE being on a record breaking reading streak. Yay!

Here’s another piece of life advice that is an absolute truth…

Love it!

That’s all from me on this day of happy lovin’. See ya’ all next week, ladies!

Hello, lovely ladies 🙂

Another week and already we’re in February. Isn’t is crazy how quickly time passes as you get older? Is it just me, or does it just seem to melt away? Weekends especially pass in a super quick blink. *sigh*

The upside is that Darker, the movie, will be here before we know it. And talking about the silver screen, this week saw Bella Heathcote landing the role of Leila. Again, at least from a looks point of view, I think the decision is pretty solid. She definitely looks like Dakota as Ana.

I saw this fan made poster on the Laters Baby UK Facebook page:

Very nicely done by Ilse 😉

Then, I came across this little piece of life and love advice….

Love yourself, ladies. Pick a winner! 😉

This week I read:

ssoh b

Some Sort of Happy by Melanie Harlow, book one in the Happy Crazy Love series, was great. The male lead suffers from debilitating anxiety and OCD, but Melanie manages to make the story touching and plausible, not to mention steamy. I really enjoy her writing and it was no different with this book. Though the series borrows characters across the trilogy, you don’t have to read them in order.

Betrayal by Aleatha Romig, book one in the Infidelity series, left me with warring feelings. The writing was very repetitive and the characters’s conversation, at times, was stilted and confusing, Also, so far, I found some pretty big plot holes, but the story has merit and I wanted to see where it went. Ergo, the purchase of book two….

Currently I’m reading:

c

Cunning by Aleatha Romig, book two in the Infidelity series. I’m almost done with this one, and I have to admit that this book is better than the first, at least from a writing POV. More about book two next week. Thank you for the rec, MAC 😉

On my shelf I have:

wsl ssoc

Wicked Sexy Liar, the new one by Christina and Lauren, which is book four in the Wild Seasons series & Some Sort of Crazy by Melanie Harlow, book two in the Happy Crazy Love series.

I’ll leave you with this little gem… LOL!
