Between the covers book club

Hello there, girls🙂
Our weekend dawned bright and sunny. Hopefully it’s a good indicator of what’s to come this summer. Yay!

Before I get into this week’s post, let me apologize first. If you got an email notification that I posted this week’s book blog already, please dismiss. Instead of saving, I hit publish wayyy before I was done. Again – I’m sorry! 😳

Then, as we look forward to the trailer I thought I’d share this:

On Instagram, from jamiedornan_fangirl, this great edit:

And on Pinterest, I got this lovely one…

Christian in his wedding kit, though I recall from the book that he wore a silver vest…

Though not related to CG, I love this little clip Sharon sent me of the statue of David….

So cute!😉

This week I read:

sd

3 stars

Sugar Daddy by Sawyer Bennett, book one in the Sugar Bowl series, was, as far as I’m concerned, the prefect example of the difference between a three and a four star book. Overall, the writing wasn’t bad. The editing was okay, and even the story had potential, but it lacked the dazzle that keeps me gripped. Mercifully the ugly in her past was explained in a discreet manner, and for that, I was grateful. And I may have peeked at book two after the cliffy ending, ***SPOILER ALERT*** but the way the male protagonist manhandled her out of his house and his life, killed any possibility of Beck reaching book boyfriend status in my world. What a d!ck!

Currently I’m reading:

Worth the Fight by Vi Keeland, book one in the MMA fighter series. After my crappy reading streak of the last fortnight I decided to go for a sure thing. I’m yet to go wrong with this reliably entertaining author. #ViKeelandRocks

On my shelf I have:

To Have and to Hold by Lauren Layne, book one in the Wedding Belles series.

In conclusion, here’s to being your best and most colorful self:

I hope you guys have a great weekend! If you’re reading the next best thing, PLEASE share 😘

Hi Monique and ladies, hope you’re all good.
Before I tell you all about my fantastic reading this week I have to say Monique give Beck a chance lol I love him and he is definitely my book boyfriend, he was falling for Sela and had caught her snooping and lying, like most men he acted first and thought about it after he certainly redeemed himself in book 2 Sugar Rush which I read in a day couldn’t put it down it ended on a killer cliffy so roll on October for the final instalment……..I’m wishing my life away based on when books are being published lol 😕
I also read a new trilogy by TL Smith Black / Red/ White I loved every one of them fabulous reads but very very dark I think they would give you nightmares Monique but the other ladies might enjoy them.
Not too sure what to read now so any suggestions would be very welcome.

Yeah, I get the anger in betrayal thing, but damn, the way that played out to me was almost violent. Glad to hear he’s not a douche, though.
Ooohh, sounds like you seriously got stuck into a great series, Katherine. That’s fantastic. So how dark is dark, then? Are we talking Dark Duets dark, Black Lotus, or worse??? And I hear you on the wishing for the next book thing! Aww well, it could be worse! If you’re going to be addicted to anything, I think a book is pretty innocuous! 😉 Keep up with the great sharing, Katherine!

Monique sorry to hear Sugar Daddy wasn’t your cup of “sugar” Beck so redeems himself in the next book. See right I feel like that with A Beautiful Funeral, the Maddoxx Brothers book. It’s all right but just felt it was missing something.

No worries, Heather. Isn’t it strange that we can all LOVE one series so hard but differ on almost every other book we read? I love it though, I find it fascinating. And yeah, Katherine just said the same thing, that he gets his act together. Good man! 😉
I’ve reads some of the earlier books in the Beautiful series, and I loved them, but to lite in the boudoir for my taste…. 😉

Hi Hi… I went on a Vi Keeland rampage and it was satisfying. I finished worth the fight amd although there is not a lot of sex she is a great storyteller so far, there is one left for me in that series you are doing.
I abandoned ship on Sugar Daddy. No can do.
I have Mr. Corporate queued up. And I found myself emersed in my new find “Strongest Steel” it is a series of circle tatoos or some such…also really liked the story and follow through not a lot of panty melting… But a girl can only afford to melt so many panties!! 😎

Those clips of Christian/Jamie are becoming hotter and hotter. I wonder if its because we except him as Christian?? Still cannot quite muster any feelings for Ana but hey I got some time to try!!

Hi girlfriend. I’m with you, Vi Keeland rocks all sorts of good things and Sugar Daddy was not for me either. Sounds like you’re having fun with a new series, though. That’s fantastic. I love something I can sink my teeth into. Enjoy, babe 😉
I had the exact thought about the Jamie pics the other day. I have to admit that it’s his face I see now when I think of CG. Not sure if it’s a good thing, but we’re certainly being conditioned. LOL! Lovely to hear from you 😘

I’m all about feeling that Unicorn this week!! What a big, adorable horn he is sporting! LOL.
This week read “Monday” by E.L. Todd. Liked it, liked the characters…heat level was nice, but ended on a major cliffhanger. I almost didn’t read the next book due to another review, but ended up getting “Tuesday”. I believe the days of the week keep going, but Tuesday ended it for me. Again, nice flow on the conversation, enjoyable characters….but some really odd writing errors in book two. They named the wrong character at one spot, used the exact same seduction device three times. The second time, I was like, seriously? Three times was really too much. Just seemed very unimaginative when the writing was quite nice overall. So…it was a like for me, but not something I would recommend.
Now I’m reading “Midnight Soul” By Kristen Ashley – book five of a paranormal romance set she did. So far my least fave of the five, but I still am enjoying it and hoping it will improve. Looking forward to a nice vacay next week and trying to decide what I will read while relaxing!!
