I couldn’t agree more. I had such high hopes for Darker with NL doing the writing and a new director. Some of the scenes seemed so rushed e.g. The crash scene when Anna and co are waiting for news at Christian’s apartment – it was too quick for the Anna to show the utter devastation she felt at the possibility of Christian being dead and then the tv news reporter announced that CG iwas alive – elevator opens and out steps Christian. Talk about taking the wind out of his sails! After the Leila scene why was so much time showing Anna wandering the streets of Seattle? It wasn’t in the book like this and we did not need to see her looking up at tall buildings. Maybe I need to see it again but I came away even more disappointed than FSOG. Perhaps I just expected too much.

I agree! I seriously think they did this because they were contracted with the singers to get their songs in!!

IKR? If only they took a little time to build some scenes, Carol, to let us FEEL the heat and tension, it would have been a helluva’ step in the right direction. We all expected a lot, especially with Erika at the helm.

Voce nao reconhece o romance no filme.

Excellent quotation. Years ago, Diana Gabaldon, in response to fans wanting/demanding a movie of Outlander, she said: which 70 pages of the book would you like? She held out and look what a success TV Outlander has been.
BTW… and you will NOT like this info: ELJ was offered FSOG as a series like Outlander, with the ability to portray the dominance scenes in more accurate detail and tell the story over 12 episodes or so. She declined…. she wanted to go Hollywood.
This is one of the reasons that, while she gave me books that have been transformative for me, I’m angry that her personal needs got in the way of giving fans what they wanted altho she was claiming she was thinking only of the fans.

Ha! Fantastic! And so true, Lissa! I guess there’s a certain gloss and glory to having your work turned into a movie that a TV series just don’t seem to have. I have no idea why, but still, it seems true. #AllForTheGlory
