Between the covers book club

Hello there, lovely ladies đŸ€—

We’ve had some positive feedback regarding the Darker DVD release, so that’s good news, but I’m still after seeing that delicious slow spark ignite and burn between them.

Check out these clips taken from the DVD, the deleted pool table scene and the alleyway kiss after Jose’s exhibition. I like the banter and the smouldering looks between the two of them in the first clip, love the heated build-up, but sadly, the climax feels flat. What are your thoughts?

Thank you, Susan and Laura for the links. đŸ‘đŸ» And just as an FYI, this YouTube channel has posted a whole lot of clips from the film if you’re interested.

This week I read:

Twist by Kylie Scott, book two in the Dive Bar series, was good, but not great. I REALLY missed the fast, smart mouth of previous characters like Mal, those sharp quips that bring a smile to your face.

Bombshell by C. D. Reiss, book 1 in the Hollywood A-List series, in contrast, was fabulous. Beautiful phrases, a cutiepie tot, and a hot A-lister falling hard for the nanny. You just can’t go wrong.

Currently I’m reading:

The Hot Shot by Kristen Callihan, book 4 in the Game On series. I’m really enjoying this so far, but editorially speaking, somebody missed some shockers. With a class act such as Kirsten, I’m feeling a little short changed.

On my shelf I have:

Trophy Wife by Alessandra Torre, books 0.5 to 5 in the Dumont Diaries series and Sweet Barbarian by Jayla Jasso, a time travel genre book that I got as a gift from Sharon. Thank you, girlfriend. I’m looking forward to meeting your new BB! 😉

If you enjoy good champers as much as I do, you’ll identify with this one:

😉😂

Have a great week, girls. I’ll see ya’ next week.

Goody, goody, goody….will dig into Bombshell the minute I finish a library book due in 3 days. After disaster with Master Professor was literally shaking that CD Reiss would be a letdown….but couldn’t imagine she could be and now you’ve allayed my fears.
Will ‘assess’ added scenes posted. I sure hope the downloadable unrated on Amazon has them. Will get it soon.

Waiting to get downloaded unrated film until I can get it with Amazon points….another few weeks. But I saw some of the scenes on youtube. Pool scene is weak because missing some of the nuances and motivation of the book. I think it’s just poor moviemaking and pandering to a male sensitivity of just get to the chase. Scene on boat is charming….they really do seem so normally interactive. That said, I think JD’s CG is a little too chill. Where is that edge? This ain’t a Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds rom-com here.

I don’t stalk JD on line, but seem to get a notice on Google I never asked for. So today, I got notification of his next or next next project.

He seems to be getting good roles which I think I’ll enjoy since they’ll showcase his development as an actor. But interesting that, as delightful and skilled an actress as DJ is, she doesn’t seem to be advancing as much. Her big thing (money, of course) is spokesmodel/person for a new perfume, apparently. Reminds me of what happened with Remington Steele. Stephanie Zimbalist was the big name and Pierce Brosnan eclipsed her. Same with Moonlight with Bruce Willis and Cybil Shepard. Remember ladies…it is still a man’s world, but we have to keep on trying.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Hi Lissa đŸ€— Huh. “Pandering to male sensitivity”. That’s an interesting viewpoint, Lissa. Please elaborate? And I’m 150% with you on CG’s missing edge. His growly, impatient, stern Dom temperament is MIA in the movies, and as far as I’m concerned, the cherry on the delicious suit-clad male from the books. And right you are too on the overshadowing co-stars bit. Let’s hope she finds her own way. Always a pleasure to get a view into that head of yours! 😉 Thanks for sharing.

Hello, Read the “Trophy Wife” I did not think this was one of Ms. Torre’s best. It was all over the place, the plot incoherent and I just did not believe the plot. Still a fan though:) Hope all is well with you and yours!

Hi Monique and ladies, I’m happy to report I had a great reading week.
I started with Crown of Lies and Throne of Truth both by Pepper Winters, I really enjoyed both books and got through them in a couple of days. I think you would enjoy these books Monique, no darkness at all!.
It’s strange that you put me unto this author but I don’t think you’ve read any of her books.
I have Hundreds ready to read, part 3 of the Pennies Series.
I also read a book not in our usual genre, The Storyteller by Jodi Picot, what an amazing book, written beautifully and sympathetic to the subject, a fiction book based on facts, I would recommend this to anyone. I am currently reading Strangers by Dean Koontz, I’d forgotten how he is a fabulous writer with such skill the way he weaves his yarns!
Have a great week everyone, think I’ve got my mojo back 😁

Oooh, this from the author who wrote those dark but good ones you read recently? Perhaps I should take a peek, Katherine. IKR? I guess it’s weird, but sometimes I see something that I suspect a certain person would like, so then the rec. Glad it worked out for you, though. I used to LOVE Dean Koontz, crazy as he is! Glad you have your groove back, girlfriend. Hope to hear more good book news from you soon! 🙂

I’m still stuck on my sweet barbarian. Not ready to love anyone else forever quite yet. Maybe tomorrow. I was swooping thru the house this morning, and my hubs asked me what was going on. I told him I was totally in looove. He shook his head and said, “Again or still?”
    *giggles*
Glad I have a confident man, and I don’t have to hide my obsessions!

Hi Crystal….may not be your cup of tea…it’s one of those that you fall in love the first 75% of the book before the water hits BOIL!!! But I just adored him and loved him from beginning to end. It’s only .99 so you really can’t go wrong, even if you just skip to the last 25%!! Little bit of time travel beginning and end. I have a friend that teaches english to foreign students, and thought since the ingenue does the same work, and teaches English to the Barbarian that my friend would get a special kick out of it. (I got several. OMG. Gotta love those special kicks!!!) Monique has the cover up in her blog right next to the Trophy Wife cover. I’m still in love. Every girl deserves a barbarian of her very own.
Happy Mother’s Day to moms in the bookclub!! (Probably isn’t an international holiday, but you deserve a Happy day anyway!!)

    Hi all.
Its cool, 70, and a bit rainy here in Southern Oklahoma. Hubby brought in yellow squash from the garden. First of the year. Garden looks great right now.
I’ve seen 5 doctors in the last two weeks and I swear to God I think one was a vampire. Took 15 tubes of blood. I still look and feel good.
BUT being busy traveling 2hr one way to see doctors has limited my reading time. I have been clawing my way through “Mr. Moneybags” by Leeland, Vi; Ward, Penelope. One quarter of the way through I was like where is the sex, half way through I was where is the FUCKING SEX and my 3/4 through I said Oh Fuck it. No sex til 90% though the book and then it wasn’t all the good of sex. The plot was juvenile: is she my sister, is she not, even if she is my sister do I still want to fuck her. Oh give me a break.. I give it a 0.5. Don’t waste your money.

Now for another rant. The fucking fanfiction has been down for close to a week and y’all know how I love my fanfiction. Only saving grace is some of the fsog groups I belong to have put up links to stories being updated.
I have gone back to a author I love Nicole Edwards and have bought 3 of her books I haven’t read. I’ll keep you posted on what I think.

I have come to the conclusion I just need a really good fucking. Stress reduction. “Hubby, Hubby, where are you!!!!!!”
Hope you all get one to.

Hi Crystal! đŸ€— Lovely to hear from you! I adore getting things from my garden, so I completely understand your veggie patch lovin’. Wow! The doctors are keeping you busy! Are you any closer to finding out what the matter is? I had to giggle at your review for Mr Moneybags! While I was reading it I thought to myself that you would not enjoy being strung along like that! And here you are, bemoaning the loooong wait for nookie! I don’t blame you. And what’s more, lately I’ve been seeing this trend more and more often. I’ve recently read a string of books where there’s no hint of lovin’ until at least halfway! I think the current publisher’s mantra is: “less is more”. 😝 It’s weird that your Fan Fic isn’t up and running. I’ve had likes, favourites and reviews all this week, so as far as I can tell the site it up and active. What a pain for you! I know how much you enjoy your FF! 😉 Hope you find your hubby and he gives you a good seeing to! 😉😉

OMG… Black Ball Any Pocket!! Why did they delete that!! Would of made my reclining movie seat sit up and take notice! Hi Girlfriends.
Wow…that was the best scene I have seen them in. Considering they cut the Jack Hyde confrontation down to seconds. Sigh…
Read “Hotshot” and really liked the flow of the book. It had a believable story with some twists, but alas the one thing I could not get past…
Her Name. I was so into reading it and loving the banter between the team-mates with Finn but everytime her name came up as anything but Chess… Their was a tidal wave of cold water over my head. Really Chester Copperpot! Jesus. It makes me nauseous.
Aw well. Moving on to some of the new listings for May. Thank goodness I was getting worried I would run out of reading. I tried to grab the CD Reiss one but not in my IBooks yet I guess.
Well I think I will sneak on back up to that deleted little pool game and watch him sink his balls!!!! Heehee đŸŽ±đŸŽ±

Hey girl đŸ€— Glad you enjoyed the pool scene. 😉 I REALLY enjoyed that part of the book! But I miss the perspex ruler… *sigh* I literally laughed out loud re the Copperpot issue!! 😂 From a writer’s perspective I can see why she would want to add a quirky bit, but you’re right. It’s a pretty awful name!! I enjoyed Bombshell. It was a great read. Hope it lands on your shelf soon! iBooks are sometimes a bit slow or worse, don’t have certain things at all! I wonder why that is. The ONLY reason I prefer the iBooks app to the Kindle one is because I can move the books. Call me anal, but I like my books arranged just so, and with the kindle app, your current book is first, which is okay, but then once I’m done, I want it to go with all it’s friends in the series, etc. Irks me that I can’t group them together unless I tap on every one! LOL! #FirstWorldProblems Have a great week, thank you for checking in!! 😘

Too funny Monique. I started out with the intention to keep ALL of my digital books in Ibooks (FSOG was the first!)….but Kindle was so much easier with checking the reviews and one-click, that now everything is Kindle. Plus there were a couple of books that came out that weren’t available on ibooks, but everything seems to be available on Kindle.
I do TRY and keep books from the same author on one app or the other, to try and avoid double-purchasing them. In both apps, I create collections of favorite authors and plunk all of their books in that folder. I don’t think I understand why you can’t do that in your kindle…

Yes! That’s the issue. iBooks isn’t as well stocked, is more expensive, AND doesn’t have the Audible narration as an option, but I LOVE that you can move the damn books! 😂😂 . I can make folders in Kindle, but I like to see ALL my books at a glance. I’m just stupidly anal AND stubborn. LOL! With the level of personalisation in apps and devices these days, and considering how vastly Kindle is used, I find it strange that they don’t offer such a basic feature. Aw well. I guess I can’t have my barbarians AND eat them…. 😂😂😂
