Between the covers book

Hello there, lovely ladies 🤗

How are you? My week was marred with the news of a dear friend and fellow book lover landing in hospital. 🤕 Dear Susan, I’m hopeful that you’ll be on your feet before long, fully healed and well again. I look forward to dissecting many more books with you in the future. #GetWellSoon

This coming week sees the Darker DVD release here in Oz. If you’re here in Australia, Sydney specifically, you might want to celebrate by spoiling yourself (and your partner) with an event that promises to be every bit as delicious as the books: “Universal Sony Pictures Home Entertainment invites you to a one-of-a-kind dining experience in celebration of the DVD release of Fifty Shades Darker on DVD and Blu-ray, out May 24. For one night only, experience a Grey style date with bespoke cocktails and a six course degustation menu inspired by the film’s romance and sensuality. The catch-all? Do it all while wearing a blindfold. With only your partner guiding your way, test your trust and bond by sharing the decadent courses of the unique menu.”

Personally, I love the idea. Check out this link to secure your spot. And just look at some of the delectable goodies you’ll get to savor…

Looks yummy, right? 😋😋

Unsurprisingly, Darker scaled the DVD charts placing Fifty right at the very top – again. See this Variety article featuring Universal Pictures cornering the market.

This week I read:

Sweet Barbarian by Jayla Jasso. Now you know paranormal is not my thing, but despite this falling in the time travel genre, and utterly farfetched in it’s progression, I loved it. It was an unexpectedly sweet read, the barbarian a dreamy mix of alpha caveman and devoted hottie, top-shelf book boyfriend material. It’s a lovely light read, but well worth the uncomplicated R&R it provides. Thank you, Sharon for sharing your sexy BB with me! ❤️

Currently I’m reading:

Crown of Lies by Pepper Winters, book 1 in the Truth and Lies Duet series and Trophy Wife by Alessandra Torre. Not much to say yet, both are intriguing so far, so that’s promising. Also, I’m happy to say, that Torre’s gone back to her twisty turns story style for this one. #Hopeful

Have a beautiful weekend, girls. If you go to the above mentioned event, let me know how it went. I’ll be pea-green with envy! 🤢

Hello Monique! I’ve been so M.I.A, my phone broke down and I was living in no comunication days, was good but hard at the same time.
Susan I hope you get well soon! Sending you my positive energy and good vives 😃
My reading has been slow, I got back to This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas, cause I felt like I needed to read something known for me. So I’m back in Jesse nine cloud 😍
Big hugs Mo, have a lovely week

IKR? Sounds like an awesome evening! Would it be strange if you did it with an FSOG-loving girlfriend, though? 😂 Not sure my hubby would buy in to feeding me morsels…. Hope you find something fantastic to read soon, Katherine 😘

LOL! I hear you, Katherine, though, that said, he can be romantic, but he doesn’t like anything messing with his food! Taking the time to feed me when he wants to eat his own feast will be asking too much! 😂 I can only imagine the playful ribbing going on in your house! Keep flying that girl-banner, lady! We’re behind you, 100% 😉😘

They’re in for it when I am in the menopause lol according to hubby’s wisdom people don’t have romance when they’ve been married 29yrs! dick 😂

Finished Trophy Wife. Not sure of protocol of reviewing book before Monique finishes it….so stop reading now if that will bother you.

Very interesting. Trophy Wife is NOT genre. It is, instead, noir, the literary equivalent of film noir. Twists and turns. The physical encounters are not the focus but are there to confuse. Nothing straight line here to HEA. Think something more like Gone Girl or a Hitchcock film….there’s even a cool blond.

The FSOG Easter eggs are rampant and annoying but easily ignored. Who this woman was was not comfortable for me from the beginning…as the female character in begining of Psycho was not that savory. But Torre does a very good job with this material. It could have been polished more. She could have tied up some loose strings better. But overall I felt that I read a noir book that could have gone mainstream like The Girl Before did recently.

And now I’m in library hell with two books that just came in….a nonfiction about American geography and a Willa Cather classic for.my PBC….pretentious book club😃😃

Hey Lissa 🤗 You’re ALWAYS good to go with any review, pre or post my personal reading. 😉 I certainly got that Torre’s gone back to her dark and twisty style, a relief after her sweeter offerings of late. I enjoy her quirky musing more than her sugary books, though they are lovely too! Good luck with your book choices. I don’t think I’d do well in a PBC! LOL! 😂 Have a good one, girlfriend.

IKR? Sounds like it could be a great night! 😉 I DID mention it to the hubster! 😝
Yes, it’s hard to move on from a book flame sometimes. I don’t blame you for dwelling on the sweetest barbarian and reaching for known comforts.
Let us know how you go with the DVD. Hugs! 😘

    HI all.
Oh Susan I’m so sorry you are not feeling up to par. Here is hoping you bounce back real soon.

Had bad storms and lots of rain a couple of nights ago. So needed the rain. Been eating new potatoes and lots of squash from the garden and have green tomatoes on the vines. As soon as it dries up need to dig all the potatoes.

It seem like we have a common theme running among several of us. Going back to what we like and puts a smile on our faces. It’s like comfort food. I went back to Nicole Edwards Pier 70 series. M/M, lots of great hot sex and a wonderful love story. Makes my day. I needed a pick me up from all the doctors and something to take my mild off real life. Son not doing good again.

I have down loaded 3 more of Nicole Edwards book. “Rush: The Season”. Austin Arrows Book w, “Betting on Grace”, Dead Heat Ranch book 1 and “Boots Optional”, Book 2. And have preordered Cherise Sinclair “Master of Solitude” Mountain Master and Dark Have book 8.
Somewhere soon “The Red” will coming my way. I may have to stop reading what ever I’m reading and read it. It sounds wonderful.
So for awhile I should be set on books.
I’ll let you know what I think of the new books.

Enjoy Life every moment for the next moment it may change.

Oohh, I love storms, Crystal. We sure get ’em here too. And it’s great that you got rain. Another thing I adore. Your veggie patch sounds awesome. We have a possum in our garden sharing (read stealing) our veggies. It drives my darling hubby up the wall. 😂
Yes, returning to a beloved book is comforting and reassuring.
I’m so sorry to hear about your son and your continued rounds with the Docs. 😔But it sounds like you have lots of delicious goodies coming your way. One sure way to make my day is knowing I have a good book waiting for me. It makes me happy! 😍 Lovely hearing from you, sexy wild lady! 😉
