Between the covers book

Hello there, lovely ladies 🤗

How are you? My week was marred with the news of a dear friend and fellow book lover landing in hospital. 🤕 Dear Susan, I’m hopeful that you’ll be on your feet before long, fully healed and well again. I look forward to dissecting many more books with you in the future. #GetWellSoon

This coming week sees the Darker DVD release here in Oz. If you’re here in Australia, Sydney specifically, you might want to celebrate by spoiling yourself (and your partner) with an event that promises to be every bit as delicious as the books: “Universal Sony Pictures Home Entertainment invites you to a one-of-a-kind dining experience in celebration of the DVD release of Fifty Shades Darker on DVD and Blu-ray, out May 24. For one night only, experience a Grey style date with bespoke cocktails and a six course degustation menu inspired by the film’s romance and sensuality. The catch-all? Do it all while wearing a blindfold. With only your partner guiding your way, test your trust and bond by sharing the decadent courses of the unique menu.”

Personally, I love the idea. Check out this link to secure your spot. And just look at some of the delectable goodies you’ll get to savor…

Looks yummy, right? 😋😋

Unsurprisingly, Darker scaled the DVD charts placing Fifty right at the very top – again. See this Variety article featuring Universal Pictures cornering the market.

This week I read:

Sweet Barbarian by Jayla Jasso. Now you know paranormal is not my thing, but despite this falling in the time travel genre, and utterly farfetched in it’s progression, I loved it. It was an unexpectedly sweet read, the barbarian a dreamy mix of alpha caveman and devoted hottie, top-shelf book boyfriend material. It’s a lovely light read, but well worth the uncomplicated R&R it provides. Thank you, Sharon for sharing your sexy BB with me! ❤️

Currently I’m reading:

Crown of Lies by Pepper Winters, book 1 in the Truth and Lies Duet series and Trophy Wife by Alessandra Torre. Not much to say yet, both are intriguing so far, so that’s promising. Also, I’m happy to say, that Torre’s gone back to her twisty turns story style for this one. #Hopeful

Have a beautiful weekend, girls. If you go to the above mentioned event, let me know how it went. I’ll be pea-green with envy! 🤢

Hello there, lovely ladies 🤗

Firstly, let me wish all the mommies a wonderful, blessed Mother’s Day. What a gift it is to be a mom! ❤️

So, how are you this fine weekend? It was another hectic week for me, and what’s more, our temps are slowly inching down. Soon it’ll be all warm woollies and dark mornings. *sigh* 😝

I’ve seen quite a bit of feedback about the Darker DVD. The positive reviews mostly say the same, that the extra 13 minutes apparently bring the MORE we’re all after. I enjoyed reading this Fifty convert story on the Glamour site.

Bustle features an article suggesting that a bonus scene from the film “proves that Elena may be more of a threat to Christian and Ana’s future than we thought.” Huh. Personally, I don’t think this is news. In the books I felt Ana’s icy feelings for the “Bitch-Troll” pretty clearly, the perception of Elena as a threat not something she ever kept to herself. Why does it leave me feeling as though the reporter didn’t actually read the story? Check out the clip:

Then, Katherine shared this, a satirical review twisting the Darker storyline into laughable ridiculousness. If you’re a die-hard movie fan, you’ll need to hold on to your sense of humour for this one, but I almost fell off my chair cracking up!

😂

This week I read:

The Hot Shot by Kristen Callihan, book 4 in the Game On series, was another great read for this unfailing author, but my comment relating to the shoddy editing stands. Where on earth was her editor? Random single words popped up, littering the otherwise flawless text with unwelcome distractions. *Tsk, tsk* 😜

Currently I’m reading:

I’ve put Trophy Wife by Alessandra Torre aside in favour of Sweet Barbarian by Jayla Jasso and Crown of Lies by Pepper Winters, book 1 in the Truth and Lies Duet series, a strong rec and gift from Katherine. #HappyDays

My hubby sent me this meme. It made a laugh!! I’m definitely going to try!! LOL!

Let me know if it works for you! 😂😂

Have a fantastic weekend, girls. See ya’ next week!

Hello there, lovely ladies 🤗

We’ve had some positive feedback regarding the Darker DVD release, so that’s good news, but I’m still after seeing that delicious slow spark ignite and burn between them.

Check out these clips taken from the DVD, the deleted pool table scene and the alleyway kiss after Jose’s exhibition. I like the banter and the smouldering looks between the two of them in the first clip, love the heated build-up, but sadly, the climax feels flat. What are your thoughts?

Thank you, Susan and Laura for the links. 👍🏻 And just as an FYI, this YouTube channel has posted a whole lot of clips from the film if you’re interested.

This week I read:

Twist by Kylie Scott, book two in the Dive Bar series, was good, but not great. I REALLY missed the fast, smart mouth of previous characters like Mal, those sharp quips that bring a smile to your face.

Bombshell by C. D. Reiss, book 1 in the Hollywood A-List series, in contrast, was fabulous. Beautiful phrases, a cutiepie tot, and a hot A-lister falling hard for the nanny. You just can’t go wrong.

Currently I’m reading:

The Hot Shot by Kristen Callihan, book 4 in the Game On series. I’m really enjoying this so far, but editorially speaking, somebody missed some shockers. With a class act such as Kirsten, I’m feeling a little short changed.

On my shelf I have:

Trophy Wife by Alessandra Torre, books 0.5 to 5 in the Dumont Diaries series and Sweet Barbarian by Jayla Jasso, a time travel genre book that I got as a gift from Sharon. Thank you, girlfriend. I’m looking forward to meeting your new BB! 😉

If you enjoy good champers as much as I do, you’ll identify with this one:

😉😂

Have a great week, girls. I’ll see ya’ next week.
