Between the covers book

Hello there, lovely ladies 🤗

How are you? My week was marred with the news of a dear friend and fellow book lover landing in hospital. 🤕 Dear Susan, I’m hopeful that you’ll be on your feet before long, fully healed and well again. I look forward to dissecting many more books with you in the future. #GetWellSoon

This coming week sees the Darker DVD release here in Oz. If you’re here in Australia, Sydney specifically, you might want to celebrate by spoiling yourself (and your partner) with an event that promises to be every bit as delicious as the books: “Universal Sony Pictures Home Entertainment invites you to a one-of-a-kind dining experience in celebration of the DVD release of Fifty Shades Darker on DVD and Blu-ray, out May 24. For one night only, experience a Grey style date with bespoke cocktails and a six course degustation menu inspired by the film’s romance and sensuality. The catch-all? Do it all while wearing a blindfold. With only your partner guiding your way, test your trust and bond by sharing the decadent courses of the unique menu.”

Personally, I love the idea. Check out this link to secure your spot. And just look at some of the delectable goodies you’ll get to savor…

Looks yummy, right? 😋😋

Unsurprisingly, Darker scaled the DVD charts placing Fifty right at the very top – again. See this Variety article featuring Universal Pictures cornering the market.

This week I read:

Sweet Barbarian by Jayla Jasso. Now you know paranormal is not my thing, but despite this falling in the time travel genre, and utterly farfetched in it’s progression, I loved it. It was an unexpectedly sweet read, the barbarian a dreamy mix of alpha caveman and devoted hottie, top-shelf book boyfriend material. It’s a lovely light read, but well worth the uncomplicated R&R it provides. Thank you, Sharon for sharing your sexy BB with me! ❤️

Currently I’m reading:

Crown of Lies by Pepper Winters, book 1 in the Truth and Lies Duet series and Trophy Wife by Alessandra Torre. Not much to say yet, both are intriguing so far, so that’s promising. Also, I’m happy to say, that Torre’s gone back to her twisty turns story style for this one. #Hopeful

Have a beautiful weekend, girls. If you go to the above mentioned event, let me know how it went. I’ll be pea-green with envy! 🤢

Hello there, lovely ladies 🤗

We’ve had some positive feedback regarding the Darker DVD release, so that’s good news, but I’m still after seeing that delicious slow spark ignite and burn between them.

Check out these clips taken from the DVD, the deleted pool table scene and the alleyway kiss after Jose’s exhibition. I like the banter and the smouldering looks between the two of them in the first clip, love the heated build-up, but sadly, the climax feels flat. What are your thoughts?

Thank you, Susan and Laura for the links. 👍🏻 And just as an FYI, this YouTube channel has posted a whole lot of clips from the film if you’re interested.

This week I read:

Twist by Kylie Scott, book two in the Dive Bar series, was good, but not great. I REALLY missed the fast, smart mouth of previous characters like Mal, those sharp quips that bring a smile to your face.

Bombshell by C. D. Reiss, book 1 in the Hollywood A-List series, in contrast, was fabulous. Beautiful phrases, a cutiepie tot, and a hot A-lister falling hard for the nanny. You just can’t go wrong.

Currently I’m reading:

The Hot Shot by Kristen Callihan, book 4 in the Game On series. I’m really enjoying this so far, but editorially speaking, somebody missed some shockers. With a class act such as Kirsten, I’m feeling a little short changed.

On my shelf I have:

Trophy Wife by Alessandra Torre, books 0.5 to 5 in the Dumont Diaries series and Sweet Barbarian by Jayla Jasso, a time travel genre book that I got as a gift from Sharon. Thank you, girlfriend. I’m looking forward to meeting your new BB! 😉

If you enjoy good champers as much as I do, you’ll identify with this one:

😉😂

Have a great week, girls. I’ll see ya’ next week.

Hello there, lovely ladies 🤗

Happy almost Labour day. I hope you manage to enjoy a well earned rest!

I’m burning to hear some feedback from the Darker DVD release. So, if you’ve spent a recent cosy night with Christian and Ana, spill the beans, girlfriends! 🙏🏻

I love clever signs, moreso when they are Fifty related…

😂😂

My reading week was super slow. Work is just ridiculously hectic at the moment, but here’s what I got up to:

Currently I’m reading:

Twist by Kylie Scott, book 2 in the Dive bar series. Sadly, I’ve not gotten very far, but I’m not seeing the quirky humour that made me fall in love with her Sage Dive series. Time will tell, I guess. 😜

On my shelf I have:

The Hot Shot by Kristen Callihan, book 4 in the Game On series and Trophy Wife by Alessandra Torre.

Then, as May is about to dawn, let’s check out what we’ll be reading:

These screenshots are taken from the Goodreads site.

Lastly, Sharon shared this cute pic:

😋😂

Have a brilliant (long) weekend, girls. Let us know if you have anything fun to share!

Hello there, lovely ladies, from a markedly cooler Brisvegas 🤗 How quickly the season has changed! I’m not looking forward to the cold AT. ALL! ❄️

This coming week sees us remembering those who fought for the liberties we enjoy on a daily basis. Happy ANZAC day, dear Australian friends.

For the sake of a peaceful future let’s hope that the powers that be will always steer clear of war.

Are you excited about the digital HD DVD release this coming week?

Don’t hold back on us. If you’re going to buy and watch in the coming days, please share. We’d love to know if the advertised more is actually MORE. Check out this behind-the-scenes clip from Darker and unlock the rest of Seattle Independent Press if you’re following that cool site.

The Laters Baby UK Facebook page shared this link from Oprah naming FSOG as one of the most addictive books of the last 25 years. No surprise there, but it made for an interesting read. Perhaps Lissa can shed some light on some of the more obscure titles? *hint, hint* 😉

So many books, so little time…. 💜

And speaking of books, Sharon shared this cute article by Reader’s Digest – Here’s What Happens When Bookstore Employees Get Bored:

Creative! 😉

This week I read:

Mister Moneybags by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward was another excellent standalone from this duo. They produce consistently good reads with the inevitable happy ending that melts like sugar in your mouth. I’ve loved ALL their offerings. And I love that Pixie the adorable goat made another cameo appearance!

Currently I’m reading:

Twist by Kylie Scott, book 2 in the Dive Bar series. This is another one of my favourite authors, so I’m looking forward to spending some time with her imagination.

On my shelf I have:

The Hot Shot by Kristen Callihan, book 4 in the Game On series & Trophy Wife by Alessandra Torre, book 0.5 to 5 in The Dumont Diaries series.

Let me end off this post with a helpful bit of diet info:

Ha! See? The perfect solution to the Easter chocolate butt expansion problem! 😂

Have a lovely weekend, girls, and happy DVD watching!
