Hello there, lovely ladies 🤗
Well, winter ❄️ finally descended on our tropical half of Australia and to say I am not happy is an understatement! Feeling chilly in the middle of winter is so unreasonable. LOL! Yes, I know. I’m a weather wuss! 😂
I caught this on Twitter in celebration of World Emoji Day (who knew??), Fifty Shades Ireland summed up Fifty Shades of Grey and Darker in smiley form….
Then, for the last 2 weeks I’ve been chatting about Passionflix picking up our fav reads. Now Jesse is included in the mix. Yes, we’ll be seeing our beloved Lord of the Manor on the silver screen. Actually just the proverbial one seeing as Passionflix is a streaming platform. See the news of the This Man series being turned into film on Jodi’s site.
Lastly, before I jump into my book club post, Sharon shared this: more absolutely gobsmacking romance novel covers from Lit Reactor. I especially enjoyed this one…
You have to ask yourself who gives their nod of approval to these beauties! 😂
This week I read:
Dirty Girl by Meghan March, book 1 in the Dirty Girl series. I adored the previous series I read from her but that was her latest offering. This one is a year old, and what a difference that year makes. This book is definitely not up to her improved skills. I will not be heading to book 2.
Currently I’m reading:
Rough by Sybil Bartel, book 2 in the Thrust series and Cheater by Rachel van Dyken, book 1 in the Curious Liaisons series.
On my shelf:
I have a whole slew of new goodies: Beautiful Mistake by Vi Keeland, Trust by Kylie Scott, and Wrecked by J. B. Salsbury. Happiness is a full bookshelf! ❤️
And here’s a cautionary word on excessive plastic surgery…
Have a stunning weekend, girlfriends. I’ll check in next week.
I can’t imagine an Australian winter. How cold does it get? Anyway, you have all that lovely Merino wool to knit yourself a lovely wool scarf lol nice thing about wool, it keeps you warm in the winter, and cool in the summer.
I’ve been lucky to have read some fantastic books these past few weeks; When Life Happens by Jewel E Ann. Beautiful Mistake by Vi Keeland. Give Me Hell by Kate McCarthy .Thursday Afternoon by Beth Rinyu, and. The Weight of Life by Whitney Barbetti. Some beautiful writing from a few indie authors.

Wow! Busy girl, Shirley. Sounds like a wonderful week! 👍🏻 I hesitate to mention our minimum and maximum temperatures because I know ya’ll will just laugh at me! LOL! Last night it went down to 6C (42.8F). Freezing in my mind! 😉 Queensland winters are luckily very mild. Places like Melbourne and Sydney can actually get REALLY cold, but I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a terrible temp baby! 😝

Those emojis are hysterical! Who on earth would even think of doing this!! I could follow most of them all the way thru, a few remained a mystery!
The book covers are also toooo much! Think you chose the winner, but the Very Virile Viking was right there for me. Those hot pants just did not come across as anything except maybe the Verile Viking Vixen!!
So I’m kind of in can’t decide what is next land. Have a couple starts that haven’t grabbed me yet, so flipping thru some old favorites. I can fall in love with Braden from Dublin Street several times a day, so enjoying some revisits with him.
Wish we could trade summers. Then we would both be happy girls! Do you actually get snow? Or just the low temps? Oh, and I promptly stole your plastic surgery for my Facebook page. Loved it! ❤️❤️❤️

IKR? Absolutely amazing. And it always tickles me that people have time to do these things!
I LOVED the book covers, Sharon. Crowed with laughter. The Discreet Gentleman!!! Whahaha! He didn’t seem discreet AT ALL!! 😂😂
Ug! I don’t feel happy when I don’t have a book in hand AND one waiting. Good luck finding something awesome, girlfriend. I saw The Red just came out in ebook. Naturally I bought it too! 😂
Ha! Yes! The snail! Too funny! Steal away, girlfriend! 😉 Have a beautiful weekend, and YESSSSS! for trading weather! Pease! 😂😂

Hi Mon and ladies, my reading varied a lot from brilliant to good to wtf? 😲
My brilliant book isn’t our usual genre but was a gripping read I couldn’t put it down it was Here and Gone by Haylen Beck, fantastic story which I would recommend. I then read The Headmaster by Tiffany Reisz I can’t fault her writing and was enjoying the story but thr twist wasn’t quite to my taste. I then read Shamless by Lisa Renee Jones, loved this book it was the 2nd part of the White Lies Duet. My WTF book if you could call it that was Double Bossed by Nicole Elliot what a load of crap, it ended at 16% I kid you not I was raging what a ripoff 😡😡 the rest of the book well I got as far as 30% was random stories by other unknown authors well unknown to me anyway lol.
At present I’m reading Thrust, not sure about this tbh and I can’t stand Alex half way through don’t think he can redeem himself with me but I’ll keep an open mind.
Mon I always laugh when u say about your weather, I would love to know what temp you have, probably as warm as our summer lol.
Regarding the emojis ……… haven’t a clue about any of them, I’m so old 😉😉

Hi Katherine. I started Thrust as well. Hasn’t kept my attention yet…but I’ll get back to it sometime this week. Book two is supposed to be the best of the trilogy.
Which part of Florida are ya’ll planning to visit later this year?

Hey Katherine 🤗 Pity about your WTF book! 16%??? That’s daylight robbery! How is that even legal??? But luckily you had some good ones in there too!
Yes! I’m sure you northerners laugh at my weather shenanigans! But I never enjoyed the cold and the four years of perpetual summer in the Territory permanently ruined me for all time! 😝 Last night was particularly cold… 6C. I won’t bother to mention the max temp. You’ll probably choke on your morning tea. *where is that blushing emoji?* 😊
Aww, you make it sound as if you’re over the hill, my friend!! You have to know 50 is the new 30, so I’m happily still in my early twenties! 😉😉

Hi Monique, great post. Just wanted to say I’m surprised you don’t do the reading challenge over at goodreads.
LikeLike
Hi there 🤗 I’ve seen that around but honestly, I’ve not really looked into it. Do you do it?
LikeLike
Hi Monique, yes I do the challenge and have for the past three years. I’m finding it fun to see if I can reach my goal. You read as much as I do and it surprised me you didn’t do the challenge. Especially since you write such great book reviews.

So it’s simply about setting yourself a goal and then trying to reach it?

Yes, that’s really all it is. Goodreads tracks the stats on the challenge as a whole and each individual’s progress of the challenge. Check it out.

And can you start at any time? Or do they start in a certain month? I take it you have access to your own stats.

You can start it at anytime and the challenge runs all year long. Yes, you can review your own stats at anytime and goodreads gives the whole communities stats at the same time. You’ll see the books you’ve read, and if any friends are doing the challenge their books. You can click on the community tab and this will give you a random view of community members, their stats and books. I’ve found some great books to add to my list this way.

Yeah, I can imagine it’ll be a good place to find books. Thank you. I’ll look into it a little more 😉

Hi Ms. Monique hope all is well with you and yours. We are in the throes of a heatwave in the Northeast but Summer is my favorite time of year. I was trying to determine what to read from yours and the other fans suggestions; I am just overwhelmed. I think I will re-read your Fifty Shades of Grey Meander. Yup, that’s what I will do 🙂

Hey there 🤗 Yes, all good, thank you 😉 Enjoy the heat, lovely. I’m envious!
Oohh, a re-read? That’s always fun. Hope enjoy. As for an actual book, I have a favourites list on Goodreads that might be useful to you.

Got an email from CD Reiss…I’m on her list…recommending some fanfic for her Submission series. Wrote back…and she says only one more book from her about the Drazins. …a Margie book. Ah well….
And another random film thought….why was the extended FSD only 14 min more. I’m sure they had plenty more. Why hold back? I know answer not important. Just thinking.
And happily swimming in Reisz’ The Mistress. But Friday I get 4 hard copy books from.library which have to be returned one week later. Will I survive Soren withdrawal?
Writing from Moscow. Just went to Bolshoi tonight…unfortunately visiting company because Bolshoi season over….but got to see a ballet at stunning theater. Pure bucket list stuff.

Hi Lissa 🤗 Wow! Bucket list stuff indeed! Enjoy every moment, girlfriend. The Bolshoi must’ve been stunning.
And your thought on FSD is not random. I had the exact WTF moment when I saw the extension was ONLY 14 mins long! Why on earth would they give you less if they could give us more? I don’t understand at all!! 😝
So thrilled that you are enjoying the delights of Tiffany. Now that you’ve delved a little deeper into the series don’t you just love Nora? What an spunky chick, huh?
You are going to be a very busy reading bee, I see! Hope they are all fabulous books. 😉
