Between the covers book club

Hello there, lovely ladies 🤗

Happy St Paddy’s day to those of you who celebrate this fun holiday! 🍀

What an interesting reading week I had, but more about that later. And the reading joy only gets better with the help of Audible. I just love being able to go from reading to listening to my current book, all the while syncing my bookmarked place across devices and apps. Pure joy. I think Micheal Bolton says it best…

Funny stuff! 😂

Then, does your man need help finding just the spot when he goes down on you? Never fear, Lickster is here. An app that teaches you HOW to lick it right!

Whahahaha! I’m not sure about the wisdom of licking your phone from a hygiene point of view, but hey, anything to help the cause, right? 😂😉

This week I read:

Marriage of Inconvenience by Penny Reid, book 7 in the Knitting in the City series was good, but didn’t quite reach the level of amazing I’ve come to expect from this superb author. I cannot exactly say why I didn’t fall head over heels for this one, but what can you do?

Currently I’m reading:

The Man I Love by Suanne Laqueur, book 1 in the Fish Tales series. I was super exited to start on this one, and so far I’m not disappointed. The writing is exceptional, the story mature, and the characters are nicely developed. It’s little wonder she made news with this debut novel.

On my shelf I have:

White Knight by C. D. Reiss and With This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas, book 4 in the This Man series. The latter will only land on my Kindle app during this course of this coming week. Yay!

I got this cute joke from Sharon…

😂😂

That’s it from me for today. I hope you have an exceptional reading week, girls.

Hi Monique happy St Patricks Day, sore heads all around 😑
I laughed at the lickster video but was also cringeing lol
Last week I read A Charm of Finches by Suanne Laquer, book 2 in the Venery Series, big 5 stars from me I adored this book and I agree with you on the exceptional writing. I’m currently reading Gypsy Brothers by Lil St Germain, it is fine, not for the faint hearted and certainly not up to the standard of the Venery Series but it’ll fill a hole until Jessie makes an appearance lol. I’ll definately be reading The Man I love but want to wait until after Thursday.
    Have a great week everyone

Hi Katherine 🤗 Hopefully you’re feeling better, recovered for too much fun. 😉 Yes! The Lickster app is both hilarious and disgusting. 😂😂
So glad the Suanne series impressed, and like you said, we have crazy Jesse to look forward to! Yay! 🎉 Have a brilliant week, girlfriend! 😘

Finished White Knight this week. Completion of three stand alones that inter-um-digitate. Good…but didn’t knock my socks off.

Finished the final books in Sierra Cartwright’s Mastered series. Really enjoyed them all. Yes, cookie cutter and not a lot of surprises, but I really enjoy the way she lets characters explore their feelings about submission…and the way doms recognize when they screw up.

Started The Dom Who Loved Me and on page one I started seeing red. I’m sure it will be the fine read that made it recommended from this site….but on the first page, we have a character Elliot Lincoln, the head of a lumber consortium. Um, really? Can we please stop dropping all the FSOG Easter eggs…or references…or subliminal messages?

Speaking of Easter eggs…in two weeks, the Spielberg film, Ready Player One is released. Don’t know much about the movie, but I so totally enjoyed the book, I want to recommend it as a non-genre. Especially if you’re of an age where 80s cultural references will bring on a smile….tons of Easter eggs apparently in the movie.

Hey Lissa 🤗 I’ve not started White Knight and I may not do so this week if Jesse lands on my Kindle app in time. Oh well, so many books, so little time! 😉
I always enjoy a story that leaves you thinking and learning about yourself. Glad you enjoyed Cartwright’s musings.
Yes on the irksome overuse of Easter eggs. It is getting to be a bit much. Sometimes you have to wonder if there are any original thoughts left…
      Have a great week! 🌺

Both of your videos are hysterical!! What a great ad for audible! My biggest issue is it uses up my iPhone battery so quickly. Do you use your phone or an iPod, Monique?
And Lickster is being forwarded to some friends who will LURVE it. Can you EVEN imagine your great aunt Matilda seeing updates on Facebook??
Out of genre this week, and nothing special to report there. I did have the courage to step back into the wild thang with an alien again. It was very nice actually, but the story was lacking. There are 20 volumes to the series, so what do I know? Last time I went alien, I was so grossed out that I stayed away for months!!!
    Hmmmm. What next? Such decisions!

Hi Sharon 🤗 IKR? Too funny. 😂😂
I use Audible exclusively on my phone. I listen on the way to and from work (about an hour) and then maybe an hour or two at work every day. Right now, as I get ready for bed my phone is at 55%. Having said that, I download the books onto my phone so I’m not streaming the content. Also, I use my phone A LOT, but I charge only once a day, when I hit the hay.
I think great aunt Matilda will faint if she manages to figure out what Lyster does! 😂😂
Oohh. More alien nooky, eh? Well done for facing your fears!! 😂😂
Hopefully you’ll find something delicious to sink your teeth into!
      Have a beautiful week! 😘

Hi…just occurred to me…for anyone who read Secret Sins by CD Reiss.
She sort of left it hanging and apologizes to the world…and apparently wants to make it right.
    https://cdreiss.com/product/secret-sins/
So what she is doing is continuing the book a chapter at a time once a month. She’s up to the third chapter.
To get it, you sign up for her newletter:
    christine@cdreiss.com
For those of you who have not read it, it is part of the Drazen World, as she calls it. Her Submission Series is the backbone of this world, but some of the books Monique has written about are by the same author.
Secret Sins is about the Drazen’s sister, Margie…a character I identified so much with in the original series.
Of course, I’m enjoying her monthly additions.

Hey Lissa 🤗 Thank you for sharing. Great that she acknowledges the hanging threads and then does something about it 👍🏻 I also feel for her. I remember when I used to post a Meander chapter every week. 😳
