Between the covers book club

Hello Lovelies 😉

How are you all this fine weekend? I hope you had a fabulous book or two to indulge and lose yourself in.

With the movie wrapped I’m curious to see what we’ll have to ogle while we wait for the trailer, but for now, we have some things to fuel our Shady obsession:

The 50 Shades of Grey Support Facebook page posted this lovely collage:

I love the dark and dangerous feel of it…

The Fifty Shades of Grey. Pictures, News and Stories Facebook page reports on an update of her Jamie Dornan fanpage. If you are a Jamie fan this one is a must for you.

Then, I came across this biking pic:

Perhaps some fun “honeymoon” activities added to the movie?

And lastly The Stir features an article on Erika taking over the Fifty Shades Instagram account with some candid inside scoop shots. See those and more including this one of her with Eric Johnson:

Eric Johsnson and Erika

Cute, huh?

On an entirely different note, with fresh violence rearing its ugly head around the globe, I’d like to use my tiny corner of cyberspace to say this:

This week I read:

4 stars             4.5 stars

Cream of the Crop by Alice Clayton, book two in the Hudson Valley series, was just as I predicted: sweet with a honking side helping of charming. You gotta’ love a hot man of few words, one who KNOWS how to use his hands 😉

Bossman by Vi Keeland was a great standalone by this prolific author. I thoroughly enjoyed full-of-himself Chase falling hard and fast for Reese.

Currently I’m reading:

bp

Broken Prince by Erin Watt, book two in The Royals series. I was stoked for this one to come out. Book one ended on a killer cliffie.

On my shelf I have:

mf

Mackenzie Fire by Elle Casey, book two in the Shine Not Burn series.

As we’re seeing the back of July retreat in the rearview mirror of life let’s look at what August will bring:

jul1

Jul2

jul3

Jul4

Jul5

Exciting stuff. I so love getting this monthly email from Goodreads.

Here’s one for the voluptious among us…

That’s it from me, girls. Let’s hear from you and your adventures between the pages of a lovely book!

Hi Monique loved the pandas the world is going mad atm very sad, also thought the beautiful “real woman” was funny and so true lol
So this week I started a new series The Dungeon Fantasy Club Series by Ayna Summers, Her highland master and To master and defend, not going to read the third book, while these books weren’t bad there was just too much sex (hot I may add) but just complete overkill so not for me.
I’m currently reading Cream of the Crop a bit light but I’ll finish it really need something to get my teeth into so I was delighted to see EK Blair has a new book coming out yeahhh 😁
    Have a great week

Hi Katherine. IKR? It’s just awful what we do to one another. So sad.
And I know exactly what you mean with too much sex. It becomes so tiresome if there is no real story or depth to hold it all together.
Yeah, Cream of the Crop is light, fun reading, but not something you can sink your teeth into. Perhaps check out my current reading series. The characters are mostly young, teens in fact, but I’m enjoying the plot so far: The Royals.
You’re very brave getting excited about EK Blair’s new book. You’re gonna’ have to take one for the team and read it, then let us know. After the deep darkness of the Lotus Flower series and the WTF ending on book three I’m not sure I’m venturing her way again. LOL! Anyway, great hearing from you! 😘

Nope, not yet. Still working my way through the knee-deep list and last month was a bumper month of books I’ve been waiting for. Not that I’m complaining. 😉 But soon, I hope!

Not reading too much – tax returns are due! But I am reading “Just Human” by Kerry Heavens. Sounds like it should be one of my Fanged and Furry books, but it’s a sweet normal romance with a rather nice dose of hot. Enjoyable, and love the leading man. Boy and girl loved each other in early days, were separated when boy moved to another country….reunited after both are fully adult and ready for their forever love. There is a follow up book, which I likely will continue with as I already have it. (gotta love those bookbub sales!)
But my FAVORITE read this week was “Something Nice”, the free Original Sinners Novella that Tiffany Reisz sent out! Wow. Wow. Wow. Soren is just…….Wow. I am seriously addicted to that sizzling priest. If you didn’t get it….GET IT!
I really didn’t hear any stories of fighting and fussing like we did over the first FSOG movie….hopefully the changes made everything go a lot smoother. Will look forward to seeing the next two every bit as much as the first one!!

Oohhh, tax returns, huh? That sucks donkey balls! I’ve just finished mine. Thank goodness. And it sounds if you snagged a good book, Sharon. Happy days! Thank you for sharing.
Yessss, you can never go wrong with Tiffany and Soren! Though he scared the crap out of me! 😜 Great hearing from you! 😘

Did you see that Tiffany has a new book coming out called “Red” by Nora Sutherlin? What an interesting thought to get to read one of Nora’s best selling titles! We get the first peek at it during the author greeting this fall. Squeee! Wonder if it features a certain priest by another name?
SO….”Just Human” ended on a cliffhanger….which was OK as I was planning on book two anyway. Would have ticked me if it weren’t coming out till next year or something. And probably wouldn’t have read it. SO…I read “Still Human” (book 2), and I didn’t care for the first 1/2….as I felt it dragged on the drama too long, then the second 1/2 was just the most gosh-darned romantic thing I believe I’ve ever read. Still melting in my chair. Holy smokes…would not have survived that much romance in real life. (Not that I’m in any danger of that happening.)
So not sure whether or not to recommend. Book one was good, and lots of nice hot loving, but nothing overwhelming. Book two started out sucky…but ended with more romance than you could ever ask for. (Along with plenty of hot!) So…I think the book two ending is worth the slower ride from the beginning. As with any of these books, I really think you need the whole story to enjoy the ride to romance.

Hey Sharon 🤗 Nope, I did not see that yet. How delightfully thrilling! Yay! And don’t you just love/hate a cliffie when the following book is not out yet? Ug! LOL! But is sounds like, ultimately, you had some heart melting fun. That can only be good! Great share, girlfriend 😘

The thing is I just last month read “Only Human” a really good paranormal by Candace Blevins. Too funny-no wonder I get confused!

I can’t wait to read Cream of the Crop. I finished te Dartmouth Cobras series. I did liked it! Ir was hot, tons of sex, tons of orgies, cute stories, crazy and funny characters. Maybe many books for some, but I loved it, cause you can keep track on the other stories ik each book. I started Moonshot by Alessandra Torre, so far, as always Mrs Torre has me glued to the book. I love this author, she has an unique way to write!

I’m bummed (sad, disappointed in Eng slang since I realize it could have other meanings elsewhere). I had planned to write this note standing on the street Escala is on, but didn’t get to downtown Seattle this visit. But did drive across Lake Washington to Bellevue where I think Christian’s parents live. I think car chase was on OTHER bridge across lake…but then there ‘s the prob of how Ana sped across escaping unsub car without going thru the toll booth. Unless I don’t remember exactly. Don’t have the book with me. Details.

But an adorable story. In Alaska we were chatting up couple from Vancouver, Washington…yes, where Ana went to school at Washington State Univ. My sneaky husband was trying to determine if they were on the faculty. Would have been a hoot if he or she had been Eng profs. He kept making eyes at me to show he knew what buttons he was pushing. This the husband who surprised me by driving into Portland out of our way so I could see the Heathman.

BTW, WSU Vancouver is just a branch of the main campus which is in Pullman…300 or more miles to the east. WSU is tiny. And it’s not the prestigious academic university that Univ of Washington is..which is located in Seattle….but that wouldn’t have worked for the story. And having a 4.0 at WSU Vancouver…or being the valedictorian there isn’t the giant accomplishment it would be if it had been a major university. Ana would have gone there because it’s close to home with a low tuition. No way would Kate have gone there between her brains and parents’ major money. But ELJ wouldn’t have known that….she put tutors in the book like it’d be in Oxford. BUT…it is logical that Christian would support agricultural studies there since State universities all started as land grant (agricultural) colleges.

Now that I’ve bored everyone….I enjoyed the first Beachy Bride but find the second more emotionally compelling. Expecting Cream of the Crop from library any day…but also expecting the new Harry Potter at the same time. I’m swamped….swimming in a sea of books

Oh dear! How very disappointing for you, Lissa. But at least Bellevue is something. And you’re right. No toll booth mentioned in the car chase.
Your hubby sounds like a hoot! He’s a keeper! 😉
I’m glad you enjoyed Beachy Bride and Katherine’s story. Beautiful stuff.
Harry Potter has also exploded here in Aus. My students were all miffed today at having missed out on copies. The book stores are sold out! Poor dears! And there is nothing wrong with swimming in a sea of books. Happy days, I say! Enjoy your bucket list trip. It sounds like you’re having fun.

Monique I was led to believe that the new HP book isn’t a novel but a script is that right? I remember the days when I would get the girls we’d head out for the night dressed like witches then queue up pissed as farts and fight the kids to get into the bookstore first well they came with me for the craic I loved HP 😁

    Hi all,
Well life here in southern Oklahoma is a bit boring. No pool splashing and thank God for electricy cause I would need way to many batteries. Hubby in Canada fishing and the weather here is too hot to get out much.

I finished “Their Virgin Captive”, Master of Menage book 1 by Shayla Black and Blake Black. Three brother and their virgin. No matter how hard I tried I just could not connect with the characters. The authors had all the brother saying they loved with the virgin and the virgin saying she loved the brothers but I just couldn’t feel it. The sex was just a luke warm and the BDSM bordered on abuse, well maybe not abuse but the virgin wasn’t given much choose even though she liked it. I give this book a 2.5. Don’t think I will be moving on to book 2.

I have figured out a couple of things. I like the menage when the guy are just as much in love with each other as they are with the girl. I like it when all holes are used for everyone pleasure. And second I now know why I like FSOG so much. The author pulls you in right from the start with the lust and intrigue.

I reading “Break the Sky” by NIna Lane right now. For me it’s another slow start. If they don’t get down to the fucking real soon this book is fucking gone.
    Have a great week

So went with the Vi Keeland “worth forgiving” and flew right into the next “worth a chance” …never bought a book by this author before but she had me early on and held me through both stories. It’s been awhile since I have been taken into the story so it was a real treat. Thanks for that. Just wondering about reading the last one… Which is actually the first one cause I have no order so went backwards!! Heehee
I have got a sample of the new Colleen Hoover – so I will keep you posted. Maybe I should do “bossman”. Oh I mean READ bossman.

    Cheers my girls 💋
