Between the covers book club

Hello there, lovely ladies 🤗

heart

Happy Valentine’s Day! While I love the institution of V-day, I do hope you love your loved ones HARD – Every. Single. Day! 😍

So, by this time, I’m guessing most of you saw the movie. Whatever will be chat about now? LOL! 😂 But despite the proverbial show being over, I do have some news:

Firstly, Susan shared this, a fantastically entertaining review of Darker on Buzzfeed.

Then, I saw some clips on YouTube during the week showing the Easter Egg that came after the credit roll of Darker, but as far as I can tell, they’ve all been removed. I suspect copyright infringements. 😳

Movie Pilot chats about the H.O.T. scenes that ended up on the cutting floor because they were apparently too H.O.TTTTT for the movie going public.

From the 50 Shades of Grey Support page on Facebook I saw an ABNewswire report on the launch of a new book: Fifty Shades Deeper, a book by fans, for fans. If you’re keen to “delve deeper into the messages and insights of the Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy” this might be the read for you.

And lastly, Sharon sent me the following: Cringeworthy Sex Ed Stories, again as featured in Buzzfeed (boy, there are some real winners in there), plus this cute kitty meme in honour of V-Day:

Must’ve been a very naughty kitty! 😂

This week I read:

rds
Raw Deal by Cherrie Lynn, book one in the Larson Brothers series. I read my first book by this author not long after I turned to this genre, and despite having one of the worst book covers I ever saw, I LOVED her story and style. It’s been a long while since I’ve had the pleasure of reading a new book by her, but, I can confirm that I STILL love her writing. I am going to be totally cliched and say that she has a way with words. These may not life changing stories, but consistently good ones with just the right side of yummy.

Currently I’m reading:

Fidelity by Aleatha Romig, book five in the Infidelity series. Let’s hope THIS is the final one. Five books for this particular range is a book or two too much – at least IMHO.

On my shelf I have:

img_7956
Royally Matched by Emma Chase, book two in the Royally series. I loved the Cinderella-esque nature of the first novel, so I’ve got high hopes for this.

And finally, this week, in the search of the perfect V-day gift for my hubby, I came across this… uhm… practical gift…

Imagine the fun your man could have with this in the shower!! 😂 And I love the “ONE SIZE FITS MOST MEN” disclaimer! 😂

Have a beautiful weekend, girls. Remember to share your loveliest reads with us. 😘

Monique kiss

Hi Monique and ladies hope your reading week was as fabulous as mine yeahhhh 😁😁
I read Dollars, 2nd book to Pennies, even though this book wasn’t as dark as the first I absolutely loved it, we are now getting snippets about Elder’s past, it is a fantastic read and kept me up all night to finish it. Unfortunately book 3 Hundreds isn’t out until May but it’s on pre-order.
I then read Love in Lingerie another great read, I had a book hangover after Dollars but this filled the gap nicely.
I’m not reading anything atm, don’t know where to go now but will check out your recommendations Mon.

Hi Katherine 🙂 Don’t you just love finding a great book? And you gotta’ love pre ordering a book you love and am waiting for with bated breath. Is this the one you said was too dark for my sensitive sensibilities? LOL! And you’re right, Love in Lingerie was a great little stop gap. Not too heavy but nourishing nonetheless. Have you read any of Cherrie Lynn’s books before, Katherine? 😉

I have read a few by Cherrie Lynn, I always liked her work, I think Raw Deal is going to be my next read. I think you would struggle with Pennies but not Dollars, the problem is getting you not to have a breakdown with Pennies, though as I said last week, it doesn’t really go into graphic details, it is more Pim thinking about what happened, I really wish you would give it a go, grit your teeth pull up your big panties 🙂 , I do think you will enjoy Dollars far more than Pennies but you need to read Pennies first, and I know you will appreciate the fabulous writing………………….does that tempt you, no?? didn’t think you would be that easy lol 🙂

Now I’m focusing on the directors cut on the DVD! Want to see the pool table scene!! Hmmm. Back to books.
I read my first Nora Roberts book. I have several, and finally decided to pick one and give it a go. Think my selection was good, I read Taming Natasha, she’s a former dancer, and meets up with a music professor. Not very explicit, reminded me of Danielle Steele books I used to read years ago. Nice characters…but didn’t make me sigh like I want out of my books these days.
Read a couple of fanged and furry books….and then read January Girl by Mari Carr. Her books seem to be a bit on the short side, around 200 pages, but I LOVED it while it lasted. Gave me the sigh I was waiting for from the Nora Roberts book, but didn’t get. Very, very, very hot D/s, and very much enjoyed the family you meet in the book. Wish they would adopt me! It is the first book in a series, all about the same length. Think it is likely still on sale. I may have to take the series further, but wish the books were a bit longer.

Oooh, Sharon, Whim-wham sighs, huh? Those are EXACTLY what I like to find in a book too 😉 And a very, very, very hot Dom you say? Sounds like a winner to me! Great hearing from you, as always. Have a good one, girlfriend! 🙂

Jealous everyone is reading new stuff in the genre. I’m stuck finishing up some other stuff.
Did a little googling of Fifty Shades Deeper. It’s not genre stuff. Rather it’s a discussion of more serious topics brought up by the ‘Deeper’ group such as the best treatments of childhood trauma. However, there seems to be some other new age-y stuff like a discussion of whether C&A met in a former life. Could someone check my impression?
Can’t leave on a downer, so will tell an honest true vignette from this week. Hubby and I descending in an elevator in a tony Manhattan building. He looks at me and whispers in a stern voice: ‘ Don’t even think of it. We’re in the front of the car and you’re wearing jeans.’
But he knew that just the comment did the trick.
    Honest true.

Hey Lissa 🙂 Yup, I saw the blurb for Deeper, but not my kind of thing. But different strokes for different folks. And speaking of STROKES… Oh my! You go girl! What a cute hubby! He’s a keeper, Lissa! Lucky girl.

PS… will we still be discussing the movie or is everyone Darker fatigued?
