Between the covers book club and FINAL Spanish chapter

Hello, lovely ladies 🙂

How was your week? I had another (mostly) spectacular reading week so I’m stoked! I’ll be sending my good-book vibes to all of you stuck in reading slumps 😉

The Spanish readers will be delighted with the FINAL instalment of Meander. Please find Quickie Meander in the sidebar. Though I’m grateful for Kereny’s hard work, I’m going to miss her wonderful involvement here on the blog.

In the light of my fantastic translator’s stellar contributions I’d just like to take a moment to say THANK YOU. The time, energy, and devotion you guys spent on this love-job is admirable. To my Italian and Spanish translators especially, Paola and Kereny, thank you for seeing the WHOLE project through despite what I know to be busy, sometimes challenging lives. I’m deeply touched by your unwavering commitment to Meander. You guys rock!

I came across this pic today… never let it be said that we don’t stay brand true…. 😉

Haha

I think it’s an accurate reflection of the gifted, self-assured Alphas we love to read. LOL!!!

This week I read:

pp i1 i2 tal

Paper Princess by Erin Watt, book one in The Royals series, was delightful. The author’s name is an alias for Elle Kennedy (which I’ve always enjoyed) and Jen Frederick, so I had high hopes. The duo did not disappoint, but the book ended on a hella’ cliffie, so now I’m biting my nails ’till the next one’s release. *sigh*

Insatiable (book one and two) by J. D. Hawkins was okay. I didn’t hate it, but the sometimes off-the-wall metaphors were distracting, and the insta’-love takes away from the potential connection between the protagonists. Also, the book was heavily reminiscent of the Crazy, Stupid, Love movie, right down to a Ryan Gosling reference. Add a good dose of dirty and you end up with something less than gripping.

Talon by Carian Cole, book four in the Ashes & Embers series. Susan introduced me this little gem and I don’t mind saying it kept me heartily engaged. The story is beautiful if not a little sad, and you can never go wrong with a tattooed bad-boy. It can easily be read as a standalone, but I will so be going back to meet ALL the hot rocker brothers that make up the Ashes & Embers band.

On my shelf I have:

bib

Bride in Bloom by J. B. Hartnett, book one in The Beachy Bride series.

So many books, so little time! Wouldn’t it be awesome if we got paid to read? 😉

Ha! See? I knew there was something special about me….

LOL! 😉

Have a lovely weekend, girls. And if you come across a beautiful story don’t forget to share!

Hello, lovely ladies

I trust you had an awesome week and that you spent a good deal of time with some beautiful delicious reads.

For the Spanish readers, please find Spanish Meander – Grey holiday in Spain in the sidebar. This is a short story I wrote BEFORE I finished Meander. This is the second last story to be translated. Wow, what a journey it’s been. Kereny, you are a star!

I absolutely ADORE this pic Sharon shared with me this week. A very LITERAL book boyfriend….

This week I read:

d mp

Deception by Aleatha Romig, book three in the Deception series, was okay. I will continue the series, I think she’s heading for five in total, but I’m not completely in love. Too many plot holes for my liking. I guess I’m hoping that she’ll draw it all together in a pretty, tidy bow, but I cannot imagine that it will be the case.

Mr Perfect by J. A. Huss was not for me. I chose this above Calico because I was in the mood for the comedy that this one promised, and initially, it certainly delivered. What I didn’t enjoy was the 0 to 100 km/h style lovin’. I guess it’s pretty strange that, as an erotica writer, I’m so anti sex-off-the-bat, but I NEED the love (or at least a connection) to spark and develop between characters before they jump each other’s bones. Sadly it’s gone on my DNF pile, but I can see the appeal. If quick (rough) heat is not an issue for you, then you might like to dip your toes in this one. As a side note, this is the third book I’ve read by this author and all three were COMPLETELY different from the previous. It’s very unusual in our genre to see such diversity in overall theme, feel, and content. Not sure what to think about that, but if you were expecting this book to be something along the lines of her acclaimed Three, Two, One story, then you’ll be in for a helluva’ surprise.

Currently I’m reading:

c

Calico by Callie Hart. This was another rec, and so far, I can see why. Phenomenal writing and complicated characters make this book feel grown-up and sophisticated. Will report fully next week…

On my shelf I have:

ff

Fighting Fate by J. B. Salsbury, book six in the Fighting series. I’ve not read this author before, so here’s hoping…

So, imagine walking in on this in a hotel room:

Naughty, I know, but oh-so creative! LOL! 😉

It was lovely chatting with you, girls. Thank you for always thinking of me, sending me pics, and book recs, and jokes, and links. I love hearing from you!

Have a happy weekend!

Hello, lovely ladies 🙂

Soooo close to the Easter break… Yay! Hope you all have plans to spend it with your precious ones.

The Spanish readers will be delighted with the latest and last of the main story chapters in the sidebar. Thank you, Kereny! Only two more short stories to go…. What a journey it’s been! Thank you for your incredible dedication, girlfriend.

Now, you guys know that Jamie wasn’t MY first choice for CG’s role. I don’t think he is terribly unsuited, but I’ve always maintained that he lacks the deep, smouldering intensity needed to play our complicated man. However, this week I found this photo on the Fifty Shades of Grey Pictures, News and Stories Facebook page and, for the first time, saw what I think the producers saw in him. In this pic he seems the perfect blend of boy and man, confidence and vulnerability, and the eyes? Perfect!

What do you think, girls?

The JustJared site features some set photos of Jamie looking buff while he takes Ana out to a restaurant.

This week I read:

sacked lc tc

Sacked by Jen Frederick, book one in the Gridiron series, was interesting. It didn’t start by sweeping me off my feet. Weird word choices, confusing dialogue, and skipping into scenes without proper prompts all left me feeling mostly confused, but, despite the false start, it still kept me reading. Overall I liked the story – very Elle Kennedy/Kristen Callihan from their respective college sports novels, but it needs a good editor to make it great.

Love, Chloe by Alessandra Torre was lovely. This author seems to have two writing settings, hectic intensity or sweetly complex. This book was of the latter variety and as satisfying as always. A great read.

The Confessions by Tiffany Reisz was just another example of this author’s iron grip on our genre. Effortless sophistication coupled with creative, fascinatingly deep characters, make these books a winner EVERY TIME! Just too damn short!

Currently I’m reading:

rh

Roomhate by Penelope Ward. I’m trying this author’s solo attempts as I was so impressed with her collaboration with Vi Keeland in Cocky Bastard.

Here’s an offer you can’t refuse…

LOL! 😉

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend, ladies!

Hello, lovely ladies 🙂

My last weekend before I go back to the grindstone… *sigh* At least I got to have a great holiday! Much to be thankful for. Cheers to the new year and all the goodies it will bring.

I came across this little nugget on the 50 Shades of Grey Support Facebook page, a beautiful video montage of Christian and Ana…

Lovely, huh? 😉

This week I read:

fd

Fighting Destiny by Amelia Hutchins, book one in The Fae Chronicles series, was not for me. Strangely, the storyline and the paranormal aspect was not what put me off. I actually think the story has merit, but the writing was atrocious, incredibly repetitive. It’s filled with heat and action, though, so if you can look past the multitude of growling, paranormal beings, you might find it entertaining.

Currently I’m reading:

ts

The Score by Elle Kennedy, book three in the Off-Campus series is so far, so good. I almost always enjoy these well written, light hearted college-days books.

On my shelf I have:

tps

The Paper Swan by Leylah Attar. This one comes highly recommended, so look out for the review 😉

The Spanish readers will be thrilled with a newly translated chapter. Please find it in the sidebar. Thank you, Kereny! 😉

I got this from Sharon in the week, and HOLY HOTNESS! It’s easily the hottest clip I’ve ever seen. How a woman SHOULD be kissed….

Curls your toes, right?

This week I read:

ad

After Dark by M. Pierce, book three in the Night Owl series, was interesting. The writing was exceptional and the story very intriguing: a writer seemingly writing a book about him or herself, using the same name writing the story in the book as the author, telling his or her story. The criss-cross narrative boggles the mind, the characters are well developed, and the story intelligent. All in all, a good read if not a little long winded. I’ve shared a few quotes over the course of the series, and here’s another highlighting his/her beautiful way with words.

IMG_2891

Currently I’m reading:

priest

Priest by Sierra Simone, book one in the Priest series. I’m still not sure how I feel about this book. The writing is good, and it’s VERY steamy, but unlike the Original Sinners series, this one skirts too close to religion for me to feel entirely comfortable with the theme.

On my shelf I have:

wmf

Watch Me Fall by Cherrie Lynn, book five in the Ross Siblings series. I love this author and I’m thrilled to see a new book from her.

Here’s a little evergreen truth from the minions…

Between the covers book club, Spanish chapter and a NEW translation

Hello, Lovely Ladies 🙂

My post is a little early because I have some great news to share today. Please join me in welcoming a new translator to our FSOG fandom: Paula Stoianovici. Paula will be doing a Romanian translation of our beloved story. I’m always sincerely touched and deeply grateful for the love job the translators do, spending their time and putting their energy into bringing a greater variety to our reading audience. Thank you, Paola, Kereny and now, Paula 🙂

Romania small

Here’s a little more about our new Romanian friend:

Hello!

My name is Paula Stoianovici. I’m 24 years old. When time allows, I love to read. Romantic and erotic novels are my favorite. I am a big fan of Fifty Shades of Grey, so for me to collaborate with Monique is something that I didn’t think was possible. So my dear Monique, thank you for allowing to translate your story into Romanian.

It’s a great pleasure for mine to translate this fanfiction.

Enjoy !

Buna!

Numele este Paula Stoianovici.Am 24 de ani. Cand timpul imi permite imi place sa citesc.

Asadar
va aduc in fata traducerea in limba romana a povestii Cincizeci de Umbre Rasucite.

Va doresc o lectura placuta !

Please see the sidebar for the first chapter.

The Spanish readers will similarly be happy to hear that Kereny is feeling much better and has translated the latest Spanish chapter. Please find chapter 67 in the sidebar.

Also, I’d love for the Portuguese readers to weigh in on a decision I need to make. I’m thinking of removing those chapters as they are incomplete. If there are still any readers out there who’ll be sad to see them go, or who would like to continue the Portuguese translation, please let me know.

After a long spell of silence on the movie front, this week saw a little news. Variety reports that the following two Fifty Shades movies might be filmed back-to-back. Personally I think that would be an AWESOME idea! Thank you, Susan, for the sending me the link.

This week I read:

The Game Plan by Kristen Callihan, book three in the Game On series was fantastic. I love this author, the whole series was a pleasure to read. Ethan Dexter has now made it onto my book boyfriend list. Yay! 😉

Currently I’m reading:

Hello, lovely ladies 🙂

How quickly a week of hollies melts away *sigh* Wouldn’t it be nice to be paid to be on holiday? LOL!

I’m not sure if I’ve posted this before, but if you just LOOOOVE Jesse, Lord of the Manor, check out JEM’s site for Jesse POV shorts.

Then, I found this on Buzzfeed this week: an absolutely awesome LITERARY world map! So incredibly creative!

I didn’t get around to as much reading as I would have liked this week as me and the little miss was out having school holiday fun! 🙂

This week I read:

Hard Love by Meredith Wild, book five in the Hackers series, was good. I found it typical of what you might expect from this writer, but I still maintain that she should have kept with the three books instead of making the series into five. Good read, especially if you’re into epic series that last a loooong time and now, more worthwhile than before seeing as the series is complete.

Currently I’m reading:
